Ambient Solo, 2024

Acrylic on canvas
60 x 80 cm

My shortest synesthetic live painting sessions ever (30 mins). And it’s also the first day of me trying new palette, using bright background instead of dark one.
The music was played by @faianya with her no-input mixer, a lovely musician that I made friend with when she came visit my first exhibition (thank you!) taken in Bangkok, Thailand by @luksojiang

Southern Duet, 2024

Acrylic on canvas
60 x 80 cm

My third synesthetic live painting session. The music was avant-garde contemporary, mixed with ambient tones that reminded me of nature. I used mainly green, white, and a bit of cadmium yellow in my palette, then splashed red at the end for contrast.

Big thanks to the musicians @don_iplayalone @kantaphong__b taken in Bangkok, Thailand by @luksojiang

Details of a shoegaze duet, in which the sound was produced by only two guitars. It’s so detailed because of their fast finger movements, which require a lot of exertion. taken in Bangkok, Thailand by @luksojiang

Shoegaze Duet, 2024

Acrylic on canvas
60x30 cm

My second synesthetic abstract piece that I created during a live music session. It was also the longest continuous session that I’ve done (1.30 hrs) until my right wrist started aching. However, I was much more confident painting in this kind of session than the first time. The strokes became more accurate to the visual and tactile perspectives I experienced. So I finished this piece right after the music session ended— no embellished strokes. It took only two amazing guitarists.

Big thank to the musicians @sunmarvs @maeltovv

First Quartet, 2024

Acrylic on canvas
60x30 cm

My first original synesthetic painting, created during a live music session with 4 musicians. This is also the first post showing its finished version (actually, I’ve never posted any of the original paintings from my live sessions)

This piece is the only synesthetic painting I ever embellished. The reason is quite nostalgic. It was my first show, and there was a large audience, so I was hesitant to fill the canvas completely.

After the show, I asked one of the musicians to send me the playlist that inspired their set. That’s how I truly finished this piece.

Guy with a Pair of Glasses

At first it looked abstract, then I noticed eyes that I didn’t mean to make. I added a few lines, and suddenly it became a guy with glasses when turned vertical.

Lost in Melody

A mood shifting with the rhythm and meaning of Melody of a Mvrder by Scarlett Rose. It carries both the lines of sound and the forms of emotion, moving along with the lyrics, telling a mvrder story motivated by toxic love and jealousy. Same as me who got lost in the addictive melody (since i couldn’t stop listening to it), the wave forms on this piece were the result of my sensory mapping, which was like the intoxication of that character.

Morning Gallery brings contemporary art into a lively encounter with the character of a 170-year-old colonial wooden house, Baan Phan Fah.

Colorful, abstract, and pop-infused artworks gently contrast with the old house atmosphere, opening a space for gathering and inviting everyone to hop in, look at art, talk about art, and share glasses in a space where art, wine, and people come together to reimagine this old house.
