A very nice countermovement jump PB for the big rig @lulianjam adding over 6cm since last testing, and 15cm since first starting off!

🤔There’s certainly a heap of factors that go into improving a vertical.

First point of call can generally be to get rid of any unwanted/unnecessary body mass 😂. Typically in a team sport setting this isn’t going to be wanted or possible simply to get a higher vertical jump.

From a programming perspective one of my favourite go to’s is any form of contrast training where we pair 2 biomechanically similar movements together - one being a heavy lift, and the other being a plyo/jump in the same vector. IE - perform your heavy set of squats, rest for 2 minutes or so then perform your vertical jumps (here we used a banded counter movement jump).

I’ve seen plenty of great results especially around the use of bands as it forces the athlete to push all the way through the movement without a deceleration at the top.

Depending on the athletes needs and training history this is something I’d typically use this in season program to really sharpen the sword! 🗡️ by @lulianjam

For the last 11 years it’s been you and me against the world.
We’ve shared joys and sadness. Fears and hopes. Success and failure. Childhood memories and now grown up dreams.
On the ship that is our life, you’ve been the compass that’s given us direction. The rudder that’s steered us, and the anchor that’s stopped us from drifting too far from our goals.
Sending you off at the airport this morning felt so surreal.
It hasn’t sunk in for me yet that we’re not going to be able to meet up whenever we feel like it, or that you won’t just be next door, a stone’s throw away.
I’m going to miss our coffees. Lunches. Dinners. Drinks. Our Talks. Betting on playoff season or the footy. Late night Thai. All our dreams and the silly plans. The list is endless.

I’m not quite sure what I’m going to do without you here in Sydney. I’m sad, angry, frustrated. I feel overwhelmingly empty - almost like I’ve lost an arm or a leg!
But as always I have hope. I’m hopeful this makes you stronger. I’m hopeful this helps you grow. And I’m hopeful we learn something useful from all of this - I’m not sure what that is, but I hope it becomes apparent in time. Most of all, I’m hopeful that we find a solution, and I get my best friend back in Sydney soon.
