Telling about architecture in Indonesia from film maker + photographer's POV šŸ“·šŸŒ±

The Flying Photographer; in this stunning project, I borrowed a bird’s-eye view to capture the charm of architecture within its context.

In my experience in architectural photography, I feel photographers often experience a gap between the spaces they imagine and the spaces they can capture within a camera frame.

There’s something we can’t do: fly and see the architectural context from a distance. We can’t—but birds can. Birds can see the charm of architecture in a different way; they can see the harmony between architecture and its surrounding context. That’s why they like to visit houses that are usually shady.

I think photographing with a bird’s-eye is very challenging. First, we learn how to fly without any fear. Second, we start enjoying the flight. Third, we see beautiful things in a new way. Fourth, we get a feeling for something. Fifth, we capture enchanting angles with the best proportions we can. Sixth, we want to fly more and more to find the best harmony between architecture and its context. That’s how I feel when I photograph architecture with a drone ā¤ļøšŸŒ±

At Lumintu House, for thermal protection, the exterior fins extend into a canopy, with flexible openings between the 3.5-meter-wide spans from the top to the ground floor, providing a shaded space similar to sitting under a tree. This design also protects the surrounding plants from excessive sunlight and creates a soft, seamless transition, reflecting the ā€œLumintuā€ philosophy of sustainability through the curves of the façade. This allows Lumintu to blend seamlessly with its surrounding context.

Congratulations @realricharchitectureworkshop kak @rawarchitecture_best and team—Lumintu House has now been nominated for the ArchDaily Building of the Year 2026.

If you like this design and its values, please give your lovely vote (link in my bio) 😊

In this ArchDaily nominated: Building of the Year 2026 moment, I want to tell a short story about "Architecture who always grows up like a human, the name now is Kampoong Guha". I said "now" because maybe you know Guha in another time and context 😊

Kampoong Guha always takes a photo every time they go up, like us a human, maybe every year we always take a photo to document the difference with our expression during our maturity. So I'm happy to be able to contribute as one of so many photographers that documented Guha's Growth.

Before I get the chance to photograph Guha, first think I learn from best photographers how they capture Guha's Ecosystem with their beautiful hearts, eyes, and their own context at that time (You can also see their picture , story, and diagram on @archdaily). Like Pak @mariowibowo_ who took photo for Studio Garasi. Kak @sefvalmogalana and Kak @ericdinardi who took a photo for The Guild House and Guha Bamboo. Kak Eric Dinardi and Kak @ernesttheofilus who took photo for Guha. Kak @kiearch, @aryophramudhito and me take photo for Kampoong Guha. I learn from them by their picture, I try to think like them, imagine to feel the situation when they take photo, and than I try to give my personal touch to get another feeling and angle. Thank you to Kak Realrich Sjarief and all of my friends at Guha's, for always supporting and encouraging me to always be a learner but act professionally.

From that think I realize that Guha always growing up like a human, and i also relize that architecture diserve get the best way to communicate the design values time by time, to see that architecture vision always relate to nature, space, people and time.

Congratulations @realricharchitectureworkshop @rawarchitecture_best and team who nominated: Building of the Year 2026 by ArchDaily, these are some of my curated photos that I captured for Kampoong Guha. Hopefully it will be a photo that can represent Guha's at certain moments among the many moments that exist.

You can vote for Kampoong Guha in Link Bio

Ending this story is ... you can see and feel the Guha's growth becuase it's Open to public 😁🌱

Congratulations @ismailsolehudinarchitecture and the other architecture studios for being selected as nominations "Building of the Year 2026" by @archdaily

I remember a few months ago, when kak Ismail gave me the opportunity to photograph this project, my first impression was, "Masha Allah, I'm happy because I love mosques, and this is the first mosque I've photographed during my experience in architectural photography." Before I started to photograph, the first thing I did was listen carefully, and ask so many things about the concept and story of the project, so I could imagine the atmosphere of the mosque. When I came there I was just letting my imagination go and enjoying capturing the moment people meeting with their God, and how light touch the building it's just gave that more deeper feelings.

They said the concept is inspired when they delved deeper into the concept of sujud, and they encountered a striking analogy by the great scholar Imam Al-Ghazali:

"One who prostrates, when he is granted the sweetness of sujud, feels close to Allah. Through his prostration, he folds the vast expanse of the cosmos. Thus he prostrates on one corner of Divine Majesty and thereby becomes near."

Thank you for all of the invisible hands that helped me to capture this photo, terimakasih sudah ngangkatin saya meja, nahan kendaraan dijalan, nemenin ke hijab putra, ngangkatin hijab, izin numpang rumah tetangga, dll. I really appreciate their effort šŸ„¹ā¤ļø
