Forest Strawberry Necklace. It is very dear to me. It stands on a cherished childhood memory of roaming through a forest and foraging wild strawberries, stringing them on a blade of grass, tying them together and eating the necklace at the end of the day. I will never tire of making the glass version, it makes me feel like a kid again. Every new one is slightly different than the last. The earliest dates to 2004. Experience and take home one-of-a-kind handmade work by both emerging and established artists from Ontario and Quebec! With 60% of artists being new to the show this year plus returning favourites, there’s bound to be something for everyone - whether you’re searching for that perfect gift, or just looking to treat yourself. Lucie Kovarova-Weir of @lunacyglass makes art to wear and to display with her incredibly detailed flameworked glass beads and handmade jewelry set in sterling silver. Based in Tweed, Ontario, Lucie emigrated from the Czech Republic to Toronto in 2001, where she established Lunacy Glass Studio a year later. She draws inspiration for her work from fairy tales, folk art and her animation background, making sure each piece tells a story with a sense of humor and lightness. Lucie often uses the Murrine glassworking technique, where melted layers of coloured glass are carefully put together to create an image. When the process is finished, the whole design is heated and pulled into a bar, then cut cross-section to reveal the finished image.
