He really watched us and thought, “I can do that!” 🦭😂

This seal was happily chilling in the kelp at Lundy before he started blowing bubbles just like the divers around him.

Turn the sound on, watch until the end and tell us he wasn’t copying us! 🤿🫧

A little different from my usual adventures… and this one is a LONG video! Whole trip was 28 hours but felt like a week!😂🌊

We drove down to Ilfracombe in Devon late Tuesday night, stayed at Ocean Backpackers and shared a room… which was definitely an experience! 😂 But it was literally just somewhere to sleep before our big day.

The next morning, after celebrating Lucy’s 21st, we headed off to meet our boat with @lundydiving for an adventure to Lundy Island. 🏝️

An hour and a half across the water, then we climbed the lighthouse, explored the island and eventually headed out by boat to find the seals. 🦭

Once we reached them, it was wetsuits on and into the VERY cold sea! 🥶😂 We were told not to approach the seals, and they were definitely a little shy — mostly appearing from behind us or underneath. But seeing them in their natural environment was absolutely magical. They really are the cutest, most majestic salty sea dogs! 🦭❤️

We didn’t get loads of footage because, quite honestly, we were too busy trying to keep up with them! We also spotted some jellyfish before an hour and a half later we were back on the boat, wetsuits off, hot chocolate in hand and feeling very pleased with ourselves. ☕️😂

Then came the choppy journey back… I was SICK 🤢 and very happy to see dry land again!

Fish and chips in Ilfracombe 🍟🐟 and then a 4½-hour drive home.

We were tired, cold, slightly bedraggled and probably questioning our life choices… but would I do it again? Absolutely! 😂❤️

Such a brilliant, completely different experience with great company. Sometimes the adventures that leave you looking the most bedraggled make the best memories. 🥰

A seal poking it's nose through the seaweed to check out the reflection in my camera, at Lundy Island.
Being able to share time with these guys underwater is one of the reasons I love diving so much.

🌊 ANOTHER LUNDY LOOP COMPLETED! 🏊‍♀️🏊‍♂️
Yesterday saw another successful Lundy Loop, with 8 adventurous swimmers taking on the incredible challenge of swimming 13km around Lundy Island! 💪
Supported by the Lundy Diving crew and three sea kayaks, every single swimmer absolutely smashed it!
And they weren’t the only ones enjoying the adventure… 🦭 The seals clearly didn’t know what was going on, joining our swimmers and accompanying them around the island!
What a day! Incredible determination, big smiles, tired arms and some absolutely massive personal achievements.
A huge congratulations to all eight swimmers. You should be incredibly proud of yourselves! 👏
And a massive thank you to our kayak support team and crew for helping make another Lundy Loop possible.
13km. One incredible island. Eight amazing swimmers. Memories to last a lifetime. 💙

🦭💕 LOVE IS IN THE AIR… OR SHOULD WE SAY WATER?!

Did you know October falls during the grey seal breeding season around Lundy?

This time of year brings some fascinating changes to our resident seals!

The males can become more territorial as they compete for females, while mums are busy caring for their pups in sheltered areas around the island.

It’s a completely different side to the playful, curious seals we often see throughout the summer.

We love sharing the incredible wildlife of Lundy with our passengers, and autumn gives us another opportunity to appreciate just how special this island really is.

Of course, this is also a particularly important time to give the seals their space, so all wildlife watching is carried out respectfully and in accordance with Lundy’s Seal Code of Conduct.

🦭 Come and discover autumn at Lundy with us!

We spend so much time chasing the next place, the next encounter, the next incredible thing to see.

But maybe the bigger question is what will still be here for the people who come after us.

Wildlife. Wild places. Healthy oceans.

None of it is guaranteed.

Consider this your warning.
Protect what’s still here.

🍂 WHO SAID SWIMMING SEASON WAS OVER?! 🦭🌊

October is one of our favourite times of year to visit Lundy, and here’s why…

🌊 The sea is still holding onto its summer warmth!

While the air might be getting a little cooler, the sea has spent all summer warming up, meaning September and October can offer some of the loveliest water temperatures of the year. by @lundydiving

Today we said goodbye to a very special part of Ilfracombe’s maritime family. 💙🧡

Since 2015, Ilfracombe’s Shannon class lifeboat has been proudly serving our community, and today she left our harbour to continue her lifesaving service elsewhere.
In 2015, Andrew had the honour of bringing her into Ilfracombe, marking an exciting new chapter for our local RNLI station. Today, in a rather poignant full-circle moment, Carl had the honour of taking her away.

Leigh took Obsession out to wave her goodbye and thank her for her years of service, with Dawn onboard for her annual trip out to sea!

As many of you know, the RNLI holds a very special place in the hearts of the Lundy Diving family. Many of our crew are also part of the RNLI, with over 150 years of combined service between them.

For us, today was more than just saying goodbye to a lifeboat. It was a moment to reflect on the lives she has helped save, the crews who have served aboard her, the memories made and the people who have been part of her journey.

Thank you for your service. Fair winds and following seas, and may you continue to bring your crews safely home. 💙⚓
