"Auctoritate mihi commissa admitto te ad gradum Magister Philosophiae, in nomine Patris et Filii et Spiritus Sancti."

From my first visit to this city, where I felt a sense of longing, to graduating from Cambridge with Distinction, itโ€˜s been exactly ten years.

The real beginning of my story with Cambridge dates back forty years, when my mother wrote "่ฝป่ฝปๅœฐ๏ผŒๆˆ‘่ตฐไบ†" in my fatherโ€™s yearbook. Many years later, my father wore his wedding tie to attend my graduation ceremony. My parents watched me receive my degree with hands clasped together at Senate House. We revisited the places we walked together a decade ago, and I showed them my life over the past year.

The truly emotional moment came just before heading to Senate House for the formal degree ceremony. After a rehearsal in the college, I received the surprise of the Masterโ€˜s Prize, with a special ceremony within the college. Forgive me for never expecting to win any award at a place like Cambridge.

Congratulate to myself for finally having a proper ceremony after only having a very shabby online undergraduate graduation ceremony two years ago today.

May 20th 2022, I received the offer from Cambridge. Two years later on May 20th 2024, I began my first full-time placement in the UK at Mountview.

After finishing my first class at Cambridge, I wrote in my diary:
โ€˜I hope to become more useful to humanity.โ€˜
I shall try tirelessly, and I believe I will.

"Whatโ€™s past is prologue."
Itโ€˜s time to make a wish for the next decade.

When the moon over a Chinese spring river met an English summerโ€™s day, Zhang Ruoxuโ€™s Tang dynasty poem and Shakespeareโ€™s sonnet came together across centuries and cultures in London.

A big thank you to Mr Yutong Zhong for inviting us to be part of this lovely exchange, and for the rather surreal joy of seeing myself on the front page of @chinadailynews and on its official channels.
Mama! I made the paper and the telly!

When a work begins to live beyond its maker.

Very grateful to have presented my creative practice and research at the 4th International UTAD Theatre Research Conference, hosted by Marmara University in Istanbul @utad.conference

When we attempt to represent the disciplining of the female body, how might we also examine the ways in which we display, watch, and represent that body?

A precious opportunity to let practice and research push each other forward, and to exchange ideas with theatre scholars from across different cultural contexts.
Thank you to UTAD for the invitation๐Ÿ–ค

A rather extraordinary starting point for my academic baby steps.

I was deeply honoured to present One More Witness: Designing Audiences as Counter-Erasure in Performance at the TaPRA Annual Conference 2026.

It was also slightly surreal to find myself presenting to a panel chaired by one of the scholars cited in my own bibliography.

This research grew out of a solo performance I created at RADA; that performance, in turn, grew out of experiences I lived through while studying at Shanghai Theatre Academy. After graduating, it felt profoundly special to bring these experiences, creative practices, and emerging questions together as researchโ€”and to share them within such an extraordinary international community of theatre and performance scholars.

The project began with one simple thought:
โ€œBecause if one more person sees it, one more person will have the chance to remember it.โ€
From STA, to RADA, to TaPRA, I think what I have been asking for is still quite simple: one more pair of eyes.

Very grateful for the generosity, questions, and conversations surrounding this workโ€”and excited to see where it goes next. taken in Queen Mary University of London by @luoxiaoyaoxy

Getting to experience London with you made me see the city at such high intensity all over again, and gave me a completely new architectural understanding of it๐Ÿฉถ

You would constantly tell me just how sexy High-Tech architecture is, and about the entire soap opera of all these American architecture firms in London: their ever-expanding footprints across the city, their rivalries and entanglements with one another, and your own long-running love-hate relationships with them; I would constantly tell you what Shakespeare at the Globe and Sarah Kane at the Almeida mean in the landscape of contemporary London theatre, alongside my own stories and all the local histories Iโ€™ve collected from every corner of this city along the way.

And then weโ€™d find ourselves buried in the Wars of the Roses in Kingโ€™s College Chapel, drinking at home and discussing why humans tell stories at all, and trying to work out what it is about this particular piece of land that has produced such a particular culture.

But of course, we also had to be the most shamelessly clicheฬd tourists imaginable: wearing I โ™ฅ London T-shirts on the London Eye; turning up in matching dresses that we had somehow bought independently in two different countries at completely different times; going to Buckingham Palace, the British Museum, purely to admire the glass roof your professor designed, obviously, Sir John Soaneโ€™s Museum, Tate Modern, V&A East Storehouse, and all my favourite corners of Cambridge, from the landmarks to the places that were simply part of my life. And, naturally, standing for three full hours at Shakespeareโ€™s Globe, properly immersing ourselves in both a building you once studied and just a little Midsummer Nightโ€™s Dream.

We had to eat some of the best Cantonese food and afternoon tea in the city; drink at bars at the top of skyscrapers that never close and at one built inside an old public toilet; also have cheap pints at Spoons and eat uni canteen food at Johnโ€™s.

I started your trip with a cream tea I made at home, and we ended it with a proper Full English breakfast.

Thank you for coming to my city.

Same bar, same birthday,
with lovely faces, old and new,
one year older and one degree hotterโ™ฅ๏ธ๐Ÿ–ค

My third birthday in London, and feeling very grateful to still have people from primary school, high school, drama school, my Masterโ€™s no.1 and no.2 and no.3, as well as the friends London has brought me along the way: neighbous, theatre people, and some very new NYT friends.
A very Leo girl moment Xx

I canโ€™t quite put into words how much I love you all. Feeling incredibly lucky to have you in my life, and to have you with me through season 3 of my London life๐Ÿซถ๐Ÿป taken in The Gallery by @luoxiaoyaoxy
