✨ We live for this ✨

Nakbat adventure to the sea. 🌊

Ayn Nakbat is one of the most beautiful places in all of Oman during Khareef.

The cascade of waterfalls from the steep mountain cliff down to the sea have been calling the names of adventurers for a long time.

22/9 we saw it for ourselves 🤩.

From the Nakbat trail we descended down boulders and small waterfalls until we reached the bigger waterfalls. We anchored 3 waterfalls and went down by ropes, but will return to do more.

The sarb season is the best time for this adventure, because the rocks are less slippery than during Khareef, and the lower water flow makes it less dangerous to cross the tops of the falls.

Until the sea calms down in a couple weeks there is no possible exit by boat (as we wished) but we wanted to see it before the waterfalls are gone, which will happen soon. This meant we had to hike back up through the jungle, and it was a pretty strenuous climb.

Route finding and discovery days take more effort and time, but the reward and accomplishment is so satisfying.

Ayn Gogab - one of Dhofar’s most elusive waterfalls. ✨

She doesn’t come every year, and she needs a lot of rain to appear, but oh what a beauty she is. You can see her from far away, but getting close is the most beautiful view.

Khareef 2025 💦

Ayn Rob Waterfall last year during Khareef was such an incredible thing to see.

It was one of my early flights with my Mavic 4 pro. I wish I had the confidence then that I have now, to capture it closer and with more detail. (While also managing battery time 😅).

It took about 5 minutes to fly from where we were parked to reach the falls. I’m not sure how many kilometers, but at least 4 I would guess. (That’s why my Mavic is my best dragon 💕).

Wait until the end of the video to see how very small it was from the road.

📍Ayn Nakbat Adventure

Hiking to Ayn Nakbat is always a long day of adventuring, but imagine wearing abseiling gear and carrying heavy ropes. It’s a workout for real.

Reaching the waterfall after 7km is the easy part. Then you have to traverse incredibly slippery rocks, and climb 120 meters up the mountain to reach the top of the waterfall.

Tired yet? After the (epic) 80 meters abseil, it’s time to pull rope and hike uphill for 7km to reach the car (now carrying wet rope 😁).

Is it worth all the effort? Absolutely it is. The hike itself is beautiful, and the sense of accomplishment afterwards is a special feeling. It’s an adventurer’s adventure.
