- top down spotlight…

@sarah.mehani cut a pinhole into cinefoil and attached it to the front of the cob light to create a spotlight shape. We blacked out the room and used a light tube to add purple/pink fill…

I saw a post from @sadendya where she said she often lights darker skin tones with slightly warmer light and I’ve been using that in my projects ever since haha

“Jib shot/push in” - but with a gimbal

played off the natural light. bounced daylight off the ceiling to add more fill to the room. relied on light coming in through the window as a backlight

dance break scene

kept a color palette of oranges, pinks, purples, and blues. had an cob flashing in the background with cto to add hints of orange, a backlight, and more energy

in post we subtly cropped and adjusted the camera to match the movement with the dancers

lots of pink

we waited til the latter half of the day when the sunlight was less harsh. we found a skating rink with a color palette that matched the mood board - lots of pink. light came in through the sunroof creating an edge light and we used a light tube for fill on RayTea’s face

- we used two extras in the foreground to create a natural frame that surrounds RayTea

party bus

- the party bus didn’t have much lighting. We zip tied two light tubes to the ceiling. We pushed a lot of blue light through the windows running off a generator to create color contrast

close ups with wide lenses

- I personally love shooting close ups with wide lenses. It creates an interesting look with the distortion and creates separation while not completely hiding the background. Same idea as shooting with a deep depth of field…

“I wanna make a rock song” 🎸

@luqburr - “acting different” (dropping this month)

started off referencing old school music from Zimbabwe - mainly the drums and the guitar. (Fast kicks and busy but also melodic guitars) Started with the drums and I found this dope guitar loop for the base of the song. Then I just added in a 70s/80s vibed bass synth.

Slowly added more rock elements. Started this song in GarageBand and took it to logic to finish in like 2-3 hours. by @luqburr
