Summer is fleeting.. so before I forget, here's a photo dump from the first part of it. June was heavy, but there were still joyful moments worth capturing, sharing and remembering. I also feel like I should share more pictures of Oso, who's thriving in his new home. He's a sweet, silly and wonderful dog. And of course Lucy, who is also thriving after dental surgery. 17 teeth pulled, and she still has half a mouth of teeth left. I honestly feel like it's de-aged her, because I haven't seen her this happy, energetic and comfortable in a while. My only wish is that I could have done it for her even sooner, in seeing the drastic improvement to her quality of life. I know it's expensive but it's important to remember to take care of your babies teeth, especially as they age. Grateful for a lot. Thank you to all who have helped me get through it. by @lushsounds

Some of you might already know that I am contending with significant hearing loss. What you may not know or understand, is how hard it's been for me to communicate with people because of it, and how withdrawn I've become as a result. How it feels to be this lonely, lost in translation, confusion, frustration, and how embarrassed I am in being this vulnerable about it. I recently took Lucy out to Pretty boy reservoir with Oso and Ryan. While there, my tinnitus was so bad that I couldn't even hear her whining. I can't hear certain frequencies at all anymore. I'm constantly asking people to repeat themselves, and I am feeling far too sensitive lately when people repeat things back in a much louder volume.. I know they're just trying to ensure that I hear them, but my insecurities just tell me people are going to be annoyed whenever they have to keep repeating themselves, even though I genuinely care to know what they said. If I didn't, then I wouldn't ask. When I can afford to get my hearing aids, I know it could be life changing for me. I long to understand people more clearly again, to feel more connected and less confused.. to less misunderstandings and fumbling interactions. To hear birds in the far off distance, and notice it myself, and not have to strain just to barely hear what others are pointing out.. just to share an experience in nature with me. Please, don't stop. Until then, I am asking you all to bear with me a little longer as I navigate all the mumbles, the whispers, even the noise. If you're talking with me, please talk toward me, and please forgive me if I miss what you said.. I'm not ignoring you on purpose. I likely didn't hear you. A musician and audiophile losing their hearing is so incredibly devastating, I can hardly put how I feel into words, but the written word feels like all I have left some days.. that and my vision. by @lushsounds

I haven't been on social media much lately, but I did want to share that we adopted a 6 year old throwback Pomeranian named Oso in April, and he's a wonderful dog. He's just as big as Penny was, with a big personality that's uniquely his own. Oso was adopted from the shelter during the height of the ICE raids, and we strongly suspect that his original family may have been deported. He was rehomed a couple of times by no fault of his own, but rather tragic circumstances. All I know now is that he's happy with us and thriving now. In addition to announcing Osito, I want to share that my father has been gone for exactly 10 years to the day and I miss him very much. There is so much I wish I could have shared with him over all the time that he's been gone.. including Oso. by @lushsounds

I was dreading this appointment. I've been prediabetic for almost 6 years. It was rising. I made a big decision to come off my depression meds last summer, because I failed first line metformin and I just could not lose the weight.Well I did. and the sacrifice I made, paid off. Not only am I not diabetic, I'm no longer prediabetic and my a1c is in the normal range. I did this without any medication. I was shocked because, I didn't exercise. I haven't been able to, because my joints were so bad.. but I recently found out my ADHD meds were making my pain worse.. so now I'm going to take an indefinite break from that too..I have a complicated history with most of my medications, and as relieved as I am with the results.. I am traumatized in what I went through in order to get here. An anxiety rebound that almost put me in the hospital, a transient eating disorder, chronic pain, mania, despair and anxiety spirals, mood swings, and a warped reality.. just when I'm finally getting a handle on it and feel myself turn a corner, other things start falling apart. I paid a price and made sacrifices for my health. I wouldn't wish this journey on anyone. This was a last resort. I guess I should be happy, it would be a lot worse if I did all this for nothing.. but I'm still deeply affected by what I put myself through just so I didn't get diabetes. I don't know if I'll ever fully recover from it, but I will move forward somehow.Thank you to those who provided me with emotional support and grace when I needed it throughout all of this. Trust me, I needed it. I still do. by @lushsounds

At the vet with Lucy. Was eating an apple or waiting for her blood work, after she had a recent pain flare up in her back. She's okay, she's just having some arthritic symptoms and potential early stages of kidney disease.. it's manageable, and I'm grateful she's not in crisis but I am still feeling sensitive about the fact that she is getting older. My sweet senior is typically spry, robust, and springy at 14.. but seeing her slow down and uncomfortable the other day broke me. by @lushsounds

I went to one of my favorite places in Baltimore after my other favorite place, Waverly farmers market, with one of my favorite peeples @bunnies_enjoying_things. I always love seeing @djhummingbirdfeeder at @normals_books_records on Saturdays. It felt nice to be back out and about again, and I hope the bitter cold days are behind us. Longer days of light are coming, as Spring nearers.. I can feel it. 🌱 🌸 @elder_musick was missed today ❤️ by @lushsounds
