A still piece of movement

For the longest time Ive been collecting images and papers with these sort of marks. And for a long time I didn’t understand why. I think over the years Ive come realize that it’s because I’m a hoarder of memories. And to me every mark ever made is history. I like to imagine the way they were made or why they were, how some are intentional others not. And in a way I want to record it, to preserve it. Because It’s that grey area I find most interesting, the one between what is deliberate and what is accidental — that I believe can represent our purest form. A sort of unconscious automatism 〰️

These traces are so often discarded or overlooked. But to me, they’re like brush strokes. A record of gesture that I’m constantly inspired by. Anyway

At the end of the day I think its simply about noticing. The act of reflecting on what we make (whether intentionally or not) and what we leave behind. “We were here.”

We move through the world leaving traces of ourselves everywhere—some visible, others felt.

Walking through the city, I found myself tracing forms that seemed to move beyond their own boundaries. Branches stretched, folded, and reached into space like drawings already in progress.

These drawings explore that space between gesture and memory, where a line becomes more than a mark and begins to carry the weight of an experience. Inspired by nature, they unfold into space as fragments of movement, inviting us to consider what remains after a moment has passed.

What traces do we leave behind, and who do they belong to once we are gone? Perhaps every mark is an attempt to hold onto something that was never meant to stay. by @luttidesign
