notes on END TIMES:

“ We tend to prescribe magnitude to what we don’t understand. According to archaeologists, most of the objects our ancestors left behind were not considered sacred, just banal. Ordinary. Everyday objects of practical value. Perhaps this familiarity is what makes them sacred.

Perhaps in thousands of years, when the servers have been wiped and the cables have been lost,
archaeologists will prescribe this same sacredness to our cultural ephemera:

Not the totem, the microplastics.

Not the Constitution, our parent’s coupon books and junk mail.

Not the Stonehenge, the rogue billboards littered along the interstate.

Perhaps there is a supermarket at the end of the world.
