One of my favorite parts of every wedding doesn’t happen on the wedding day.

It happens weeks later, when the final gallery arrives.

Of course, I love the portraits. They’re timeless, beautiful, and worthy of every frame they’ll one day live in.

But my heart always lingers on two places: the details and the candid moments.

The details are a reflection of months of thoughtful decisions. Every invitation, heirloom, linen, bloom, place setting, and carefully chosen piece tells a story. They may seem small, but together they’re what make a wedding feel unmistakably them.

Then there are the moments in between.

The genuine smiles shared across the room.
The quiet tears.
The knowing glances.
The laughter no one realized was being photographed.

The moments that can’t be planned, but somehow become the ones we remember most.

And perhaps what I appreciate most is the artistry behind it all.

A talented photographer doesn’t simply document a wedding, they notice it. They find beauty in the details my couples poured their hearts into, and they preserve the fleeting moments the rest of us might never even realize happened.

Those images become more than photographs.

They become a reminder of not only how the day looked, but how it felt. Because long after the flowers have faded and the music has ended, it’s often the smallest details and the most unexpected moments that bring us right back to how it all felt. taken in Noblesville, Indiana by @luva_events

Saturday’s wedding was a heartfelt one. We had the privilege of working at the stunning Fowler House Mansion alongside some of our favorite creative partners—and it was extra special because the groom, Tyler, is a part of my extended family.

It was such a gift to reconnect with that side of my family after many years and help bring Abbye + Tyler’s vision to life. Their love is genuine and joyful, and the entire day was filled with meaningful moments (including a little lucky rain shower!).

The forecast had been threatening all week, and Saturday delivered.

Heat, humidity, the kind of air that sits heavy over the fields in early June. None of it mattered to CeCe and Kayden. She had told every vendor the same thing well in advance: rain or shine, they were getting married outside. So when the first showers arrived just as she stepped onto the aisle at The Dappled Willow, no one scrambled. The ceremony stayed exactly where it was meant to be, and the rain kept on through the rest of the evening like it had been written into the plan all along.

There is an old saying that rain on your wedding day is good luck, and watching these two, it was easy to believe. CeCe walked toward Kayden in a veil we could not stop photographing, the light catching it as the first drops came down. Kayden met every shift in the day with the same easy steadiness, the sort of calm that makes everything around him feel unhurried.

The morning had built toward this slowly and beautifully. Detail photos in the bridal suite, hair and makeup filling the Farmhouse, a first look between CeCe and her father before the one she had been waiting for. Because the planning team had thought through every contingency, the portraits and family moments were all captured before the ceremony, which turned what could have been a frantic afternoon into something genuinely restful. By the time the storm rolled in for good, the work was done, and the evening unfolded under the sound of rain with nothing left to do but celebrate.
