Has a color ever followed you? Showing up again and again in small, unexpected ways? For me, it’s been yellow.Bright, delightful, abundant yellow. The golden light shining through the windows in the afternoon. Bright spring lemons growing in the backyard. Sun-faded flowers, candlelight, old books with worn cream pages. Lately, yellow seems to be surrounding me everywhere. I’m not sure if it means anything at all, but I do know I love the warmth and light it brings into the world. There’s something comforting about it. Hopeful. Alive.Maybe sometimes certain colors find us when we need them most. 💛🌻 by @luvlesley

It’s always the little things. The ordinary, mundane moments I find myself looking forward to most. Morning coffee. Sun-dried herbs hanging in the kitchen. Making the bed. The Trader Joe’s tomato candle. Whatever simple meal I can pull together from the fridge. Lately, it’s been a quinoa, turkey, and onion combination I’ve been making for the week. A little 50/50 quinoa and turkey situation…so simple, so good. The older I get, the more I realize it really is the little things that matter most. The quiet rituals that shape the day. The routines that make us feel grounded, cared for, and connected to ourselves.I’m not really searching for grand gestures these days. I don’t want life to move too fast. Of course, sometimes I wish certain things would happen quicker, but then I think…if they did, I might miss the beauty of what’s unfolding right now. I might not fully absorb it.There’s something deeply comforting about creating a life built around small acts of care and presence. A slower morning. A nourishing meal. A candle lit in the middle of the day. Tiny rituals that quietly remind you that your life is happening now.Anyways, happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers and grandmothers who love so deeply, especially the grandmas who love their granddaughters like their own daughters. We are so lucky to have you. And a special shoutout to my grandmother, who I love dearly and who just celebrated her 94th birthday on May 7th. 🤍You showed me that sitting on the porch and people watching is therapy. That dandelions are not weeds. How to grow almost anything and propagate a yam on the kitchen counter. I learned that all the best things are usually found in the thrift store, and not to eat too late. The older I get, the more I realize those small lessons were actually the big ones. 🥹Granny’s are the best humans. by @luvlesley

I share a lot about home cooking here, and today just reinforced why. I had a full day of errands and meetings, so I couldn’t eat at home like I usually do. I ended up grabbing food in Larchmont, and I was honestly shocked.I spent at least $44 dollars on the most basic, mediocre food. A tiny energy ball was $4.50. A lemonade with stevia, cayenne, and probably one lemon was $9.50. I stopped at Sweetfin for a Tuna bowl, and that was easily $16 or more. When did salads become $30?It’s not even just the cost—it’s the quality. The food I make at home is more nourishing, more intentional, and honestly, just better. That’s why I always come back to this: if I could give any advice, it would be to prioritize your own nourishment. Prepare your meals ahead of time. Bring them with you. Care for yourself in a real, consistent way.Today pushed me to finally invest in a proper lunch bag or a tiffin. Because truly, eating out like this just doesn’t align with how I want to care for myself.Sharing some of the meals I’ve been making at home—hopefully this inspires you to cook for yourself a little more often. by @luvlesley

So many snack plates so little time! I have to say that I do enjoy very easy homemade meals! They are always a go-to during the LA heat wave! 🌊 #homecooking by @luvlesley

I’ve been having so much fun trying a few recipes I discovered on IG and sharing them in my stories. Lately I’ve been really enjoying smoked salmon for breakfast and a good steak for dinner — simple, nourishing, and surprisingly satisfying. With it being so warm in LA today, I’m definitely craving more summer salads, a tall glass of iced tea, and some jazz playing outside while cooking.Home cooking has always meant something deeper to me. I learned so much about nourishing meals, care, and intention in the kitchen from my grandmother, who always believed that preparing food for the people you love is one of the most meaningful forms of care. It’s a big part of why I advocate for cooking at home. Knowing what’s in your food, slowing down to prepare a meal, and sharing it with others can be just as grounding as your favorite skincare routine; a small ritual that nourishes you from the inside out. And today especially, I’m grateful for the women who passed that wisdom down to me. Happy Women’s Day 🤍 by @luvlesley

PSA: Please stop buying up all the sardines you’re just eating them for clicks and content! As someone who’s regularly eaten sardines for good health for years, this is crazy… I suggest you explore anchovies, mackerel, herring and salmon they add just as good. Thank you ☺️ by @luvlesley

So far, 2026 has been filled with some really good meals. 🥣✨🫶An assortment of deeply comforting, home-cooked dishes that take time and intention. I could eat black-eyed peas and collards with eggs every day, but they ask for patience starting dinner around 1pm, letting it cook low and slow, ready by 7pm (no later), and honoring my promise not to eat past 7:30.This month it’s lentils, white beans, and greens…slow-cooked stews, soups, and meats that simmer all afternoon, filling the house with a warmth that settles the spirit. That smell, the kind that softens everything turns a house into a home and creates a sense of love I can’t quite put into words. 🥹Food with intention . Meals with memory. A gentle, nourishing start to the year. 🤎🍲 by @luvlesley

Merry Christmas, friends.🎄❤️🎁Spent the day slow and grounded, relaxing at home. When the rain paused, we stepped out for a walk and picked wild cleavers, then came back to a slow-cooked chuck roast in a warm stew of carrots and celery simmering on the stove. We savored our once-a-year cinnamon rolls topped with fresh orange zest and warm pecans. Tried chestnuts for the first time (2025 surprises me in the best ways).Drank way too much cinnamon coffee. ☕️ And I may have eaten my weight in fresh pomegranates. The day was quiet, nourishing, and exactly what I needed.I hope your holiday was restful and filled with beauty, however you chose to celebrate it.With care,Lesley Thornton by @luvlesley
