Education isn’t just about what you pay… it’s also about what you give up. When people talk about the cost of cosmetology school, they usually focus on tuition. But tuition is only one part of the equation. There’s also your time. Your earning potential. The opportunities you put on hold while you’re learning. For me, my investment was much greater than the tuition alone because I already had an established business before I went back to school. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t worth it. It absolutely was. But it changed the way I think about education. Today, I encourage artists to ask two questions before investing in any program: ✔️ What will this cost me? ✔️ What return can I realistically expect from it? The goal isn’t to find the cheapest education. The goal is to make an investment that creates opportunities for years to come. One of the biggest mistakes I see artists make is tying their pricing to their self-worth. When someone says you’re too expensive… When someone chooses another artist… When someone asks for a discount… It can feel personal. But it isn’t. Your pricing should reflect the value, experience, skill, and service you provide. It should never determine how valuable you are as a person….and (unpopular opinion) not even determined by how you value yourself… The moment you separate your worth from your pricing, you begin making business decisions with confidence instead of emotion.
