A sleeve unstitching tutorial! Yes, you can easily use a seam ripper to just cut everything, but this is a technique I personally enjoy doing and find very therapeutic (it also teaches me how things can be sewn and how they hold together). It is the least likely way to ruin the material as far as I know.

I know the white thread on white fabric is harder to see (but a likely scenario when doing this), so if you all want a tutorial with contrast stitching on something like denim, let me know. It would honestly probably be easier for me, too, since unstitching with a phone between me and the garment made it harder to see and separate the threads.

I've been using this technique ever since I made my first battle vest ten years ago, and the technique was originally taught to me by my mom (who didn't want me just ripping the sleeves off her old Levi jacket and potentially damaging the material).

Figured I'd share some fanart I made of Billy from Deadlock and DJ Spit from Smiling Friends! I am somewhere on the hypermobility spectrum, and I injured my right arm about 5-6 years ago which, even after surgery, bothers me to the extent that I haven't been able to draw or write for long or consistent periods of time.

I am practicing this new pen grip I found out about from a Occupational Therapy subreddit, and it's honestly a game changer!! I hope I can do OT to make sure I'm doing it properly, but for now I'm so excited to be able to do more art from scratch more consistently again. Notebooks soon?? 👀

Hi everyone!

I wanted to show off some ideas for what to do with leftover materials since part of what I like DIY for is reusing things and reducing waste. 🪡♻️The examples listed here are chokers, wrist cuffs, gloves, fabric to attach to other pieces, belt covers, leg warmers/loose socks, and face coverings!

If you have questions, let me know and I can make a tutorial! 🫡 Also let me know what other things you want to see. I'm thinking of recreating some Hot Topic / fast fashion clothing so you don't spend $50 on a shirt you can make for $5 and less than an hour of time/energy. 💸💸

Optional caption section (+accessibility question):

Some of the older photos are from back in *high school* (almost ten years ago now, ahhhh, but that's how long I've been at this). I also have many more designs like this from back then but no photos of them 😔 I wasn't really taking photos of myself or my creations back then unless it was for a specific reason.

♿️ Also, do yall like the slide with text format? Is it accessible enough? I can't really type out all the slide info like I did for the intro post unless I type it all put on my Notes app beforehand, and that's a lot for me due to issues with my arm and typing. 😭 That's why I summarized it in the caption. Alt text causes similar issues, but I will try my best to add it in future posts. If there is an easier way to do that, please let me know!

Hello everyone! 🤘🏻 I am finally doing my highly requested DIY account and maybe business! I hope I can post somewhat consistently, and I want to be open my Etsy again soon and do jacket commissions for the holidays!

Slide descriptions:

Slide 1: Hey everyone!! I'm Eli (ee + lie) or Lux, and I do DIY upcycling and fashion! This post is to showcase some stuff I've done up until now, so feel free to scroll through. This was my battle vest for NYC pride this year.

Slide 2: These are bloody rip jeans I hand-painted and are washable!

Slide 3: One of my big goals is to make alt accessories that people allergic to metal (like me) can actually wear! This is a choker I made from a denim waistband recently, and don't worry, the soda tabs are detachable. There is no metal that has to touch skin, which is the goal.

Slide 4: This is how it looks on and with an attachment. You'll never guess what my favorite band is /sarcasm. (I am wearing a System of a Down tshirt).

Slide 5: I can also do shies, leather, and similar materials

Slide 6: Here's some more items I can make, even outside of clothing.

Slide 7: Perler Bead Animal Crossing Wooper

Slide 8: Watermelon yarmulke made with an upcycled foam base

Slide 9: This jacket uses painted cardboard waste for the hands, wire ribbon on the collar and sleeves, and a stud blood dripping effect

Slide 10: This is a wrist cuff I made, but it still needs an inner lining in order to avoid an allergic reaction.

Slide 11: I can also make TCG magnets! If you have card art that you want magnetized, I can do that

Slide 12: I also love making pins with soda tabs and caps. I have a titorial on an old account that I'll probably post in the future.

Slide 13: More buttons! These are from TCG packs and a perler bead guide book. Thanks for looking at everything! For now, just sharing and letting me know what yall wanna see will be helpful!
