Have you ever finished a true crime documentary and immediately started looking for the next one? Us too.

That’s exactly why we made this post.

True crime can teach us so much. It can bring attention to cases that deserve justice, expose failures in our systems, and help us better understand the world around us. But it also asks us to remember that every story belongs to a real person.

These five questions aren’t meant to make anyone feel guilty about enjoying true crime. They’re simply an invitation to keep people at the center of the conversation.

Save this for the next time you’re scrolling for something to watch or listen to, and send it to your favorite true crime buddy.

It’s finally October... which means spooky season is officially here. 👻🍂

And let’s be honest... who doesn’t love a good true crime documentary this time of year?

But this month’s episode asks a different question: How do we consume true crime without forgetting the real people behind the stories?

Join EG in a discussion on what it means to consume true crime ethically. Why are we so drawn to these stories? Where is the line between education and entertainment? And how can we stay curious without becoming desensitized to the people behind the headlines?

This episode isn’t about telling you to stop listening to true crime (we would NEVER do that). It’s about challenging all of us to listen differently.

🎧 Episode 63: Ethical True Crime Consumption is now streaming wherever you listen to podcasts.

A reminder every survivor deserves to hear: your experience is valid. 🤍

You do not have to justify your pain. You do not have to compare your story to someone else’s. You do not have to meet anyone else’s definition of what “counts.”

Your healing matters. Your story matters. You matter.

“Choosing not to engage does not mean we are outside of the conversation. We are still part of the culture.”

Culture isn’t something that happens around us, it’s something we help create every day. And if people create culture, people also have the power to change it.

To learn more about your role in advocacy and community accountability, listen to our newest episode “The Harm in Neutrality.”

💙 Listen. Believe. Support.

Twenty-five years later, September 11 remains a day of remembrance for so many individuals, families, first responders, and communities.

At Lux, we know that after tragedy, healing rarely happens in isolation. Whether someone is grieving, navigating trauma, or carrying an invisible burden, compassion and community matter.

Today we remember those who lost their lives, honor those who responded with courage, and recognize that healing often begins when people choose to show up for one another.

We often associate neutrality with fairness, objectivity, or avoiding conflict. But when someone is experiencing harm, is staying silent truly neutral?

In this episode of Lux: Supporting Survivors, EG is exploring the difference between political neutrality and moral responsibility, why silence can unintentionally reinforce harm, and how advocacy = caring.

🎧 “The Harm in Neutrality” is now streaming wherever you get your podcasts.

Whether you’re a survivor, an ally, an educator, a student, or simply someone who wants to build a more compassionate community, we hope this conversation leaves you with something to think about.

Every August, we hear conversations about the Red Zone. But what if instead of asking students how to avoid harm, we asked ourselves how we can create communities where harm is less likely to happen?

The Red Zone is not inevitable, and we each have a role to play in creating safe environments. Not only do we have that responsibility to ourselves, but to our peers and loved ones.

To dive deeper into actionable items we can take (and encourage our institutions to take), listen to our newest episode “Beyond the Red Zone” on all your favorite streaming platforms.

Every fall, conversations about campus sexual violence resurface, but many people still don’t know what the term actually means.

The Red Zone refers to the beginning of the academic year when research shows college students experience an increased risk of sexual violence.

But the conversation cannot stop at awareness.

The responsibility for preventing sexual violence does not belong to potential victims. It belongs to all of us: students, communities, institutions, and advocates.

Creating safer campuses means moving beyond “how can we avoid harm?” and asking “how can we create environments where harm is less likely to occur?”

🎙️ Learn more in our newest episode, “Beyond the Red Zone.”

🎙️Our newest episode “Beyond the Red Zone” is now live.

Every year as students head back to campus, we hear the same advice:

“Watch your drink.”

“Don’t walk home alone.”

“Be careful.”

While those conversations often come from a place of care, they also make us ask a bigger question: Why are we still preparing students for unsafe environments instead of working to create safer ones?

In this episode, EG is looking beyond the Red Zone; exploring why it exists, how campus culture plays a role, and what it means to create communities where survivors are believed, supported, and valued.

Whether you’re a student, parent, educator, or simply someone who wants to help build safer campuses, this conversation is for you.

🎧 Listen now wherever you get your podcasts, or visit the link in our bio.

💙 If this episode resonated with you, consider sharing it with someone heading back to school this fall.

“One of trauma’s cruelest effects is that it often convinces us to withdraw from the very things that help us heal.”

Trauma can make connection feel unsafe. It can tell us that no one will understand, that we’re a burden, or that we’re better off handling everything on our own.

But healing doesn’t require having all the answers.

If you’re in a season where reaching out feels impossible, remember this: you don’t have to build your village overnight.

And if you’re in a place where you can support someone else, remember that being a villager isn’t about fixing them. It’s about showing up, listening, believing, and staying.

Listen to our July episode of Lux: Supporting Survivors, “How to Be a Villager” wherever you get your podcasts.
