4 minutes out of 8 months creating “Inner Union” • on view now! @torranceartmuseum ‘til Feb 21⭐️moments of those 8 months sometimes looked like this: in flow, singing, dancing… other moments looked like no painting at all, far away from the studio. it’s all part of the process ~ becoming an expression of the period of time we’re in, through our own specific lens. all the day to day bits, mundane or celestial, brush in hand or not. x,هیچ by @lvlupkid

despite 13 days of digital blackout, the brave people of Iran are still on the streets. what has left me speechless is that in the face of truly unspeakable evils, hope persists... it is hope that has kept Iranians going for 47 years, and hope now because the collapse has begun. we are witnessing the regime tightening its grip, grasping for power they fear they are losing. the fall of IRGC is not just an iranian matter, it’s a global concern. they perpetrate unrest in the entire middle east, to the detriment of all the world’s citizens. ───────────•••i saw a sign at the protest on saturday that said “i died 12,000 times last week.” this is the grief of losing our finest… the courage of these Iranians is not human – they are lions (شیرزن). the more they are broken down, the more determined they become. thank you, for your light in the face of monotonous dark. your names will not be forgotten. until we celebrate our freedom together – until 90 million prisoners are set free – until those of us in exile return with a smile. #iranrevolution by @lvlupkid

what compels us to live the lives we do? is it out of necessity, or some unknown hand which moves us? why do i spend hours using an exacto-knife the size of a q-tip to cut out shapes from my dreams? sometimes i get lost in these thoughts when i’m in a frigid airport hangar turned art studio at 3am, washing fluorescent paint off of my hands. no one told me to do this, but i’m here…🌀all these unknowns as of late have culminated in an artwork i’m truly proud of, and i’m exhibiting it at the @torranceartmuseum this saturday eve. thank you to the @mrhfundforartists for the resources to make this happen. & when i say “this,” i mean all of the little moments of quiet mystery which somehow turned into something bigger 💬Torrance Art Museum Saturday, January 10th 6-9pm by @lvlupkid

The realm of LvL Up! explores the tension between confidence and self-doubt by translating this duality into whimsical characters — the playful "LvL Up Worm" versus the devilish "Imp." In LvL Up! workshops, we dive into this dualism by conjuring our own version of a LvL Up! companion. Students are guided through self-reflection to explore both what gives them courage and what challenges them. We review what comes up with no judgment, and translate this into our very own symbol to express what "leveling up" means, both as individuals and as a community.The Community Engagement Grant takes this workshop to new heights, by bringing together high school students in the co-design of a LvL Up! inspired mural. We explore themes of resilience, self-expression, and use our collective imagination to paint a new visual landmark on campus. By creating awareness of what's within us inherently, and having a physical reminder nearby, we can more easily call on our LvL Up! friends to release us from our Imp.#ce_org #art #mural #artgrant #painter by @lvlupkid

be smaller for who?. .. ..ancestrally, to be safe was to be unknown. we’ve arrived here on the shoulders of so many who kept small to keep protected– inverting themselves to stay alive.. .what are the mechanisms inside of us that still keep us hidden? who does it benefit now that the circumstances have shifted? perhaps that protective part can give us a chance to prove it wrong, to see what transpires when we let our light be seen… an experiment in who we might become...“…there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique, and if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium; and be lost. The world will not have it.“. by @lvlupkid
