Meet Daniel Bourne (@gingerandtheghost), one of the residents joining the LWC residency programme taking place between Chocó, Colombia, and Guna Yala, Panama (Oct/Nov 2026) Daniel Bourne is an Australian multidisciplinary artist, experimental musician, composer and sound designer, and co-founder and Director of @thenestcreativespace one of Australia’s largest independent grassroots creative communities, established in Sydney in 2013. As one half of the internationally recognised experimental electronic duo Ginger and the Ghost, alongside Melissa Gilbert, Daniel has toured extensively across Europe, the UK and the United States, performing at major international festivals including SXSW, The Great Escape, CMJ and Sinsal. The duo have achieved over 10 million combined streams, multiple No. 1 placements on Hype Machine and international critical recognition for their immersive fusion of music, visual art and performance. Daniel’s evolving sonic practice explores organic electronic music, weaving field recordings gathered through his travels, sounds from nature, found objects, percussion and layered electronic textures into atmospheric, experimental compositions. His work investigates the relationship between sound, landscape, memory and the natural world, creating immersive sonic environments that blur the boundaries between music, ecology and sensory experience. Through his artistic practice and leadership at The Nest Creative Space, Daniel continues to champion experimentation, interdisciplinary collaboration and the development of independent creative culture. by @lwcurrent
Meet Laura Rodriguez (@delasoulsart), one of the residents joining La Wayaka Current’s residency programme taking place between Chocó, Colombia, and Guna Yala, Panama (Oct/Nov 2026) Laura Rodriguez is a Panamanian-born, California-based multidisciplinary artist working across painting, collage, sculptural relief with an expanding practice moving toward installation and sound. Born in Chiriqui, Panama and raised in the U.S., her work is shaped by migration, cultural memory, ancestry, and relationships to land. With a background in Interior Architecture and Museum Studies, Rodriguez has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Her evolving practice explores the ways memory is carried through the body and the living landscape, creating work that moves between personal history, ancestral connection, and our relationship to the natural world. by @lwcurrent
Meet Peyton Thomas (@ptcruisin22), one of the residents joining La Wayaka Current’s residency programme taking place between Chocó, Colombia, and Guna Yala, Panama (Oct/Nov 2026) Peyton Thomas is an environmental scientist, movement practitioner, and emerging interdisciplinary artist working at the intersections of ecology, sound, movement, and collective memory. Her practice explores how land- and waterscapes are experienced through the body, how ecological change is heard and remembered, and how relationships with place are expressed through music, dance, and storytelling. With a background in fish physiology and aquatic ecology, she brings Western scientific environmental observation and analysis into dialogue with embodied and community-held knowledge. Her work incorporates field recordings, movement-based exploration, oral histories, and participatory mapping to investigate the connections between human and more-than-human worlds. Through collaborative and experimental approaches, she seeks to create sonic, visual, and spatial representations of environmental relationships that move beyond conventional scientific documentation, making room for multiple ways of knowing, sensing, and interpreting ecological change. by @lwcurrent

Meet Yasmin Antún (@pepitalapistoleraa_), one of the residents joining La Wayaka Current’s residency programme taking place between Chocó, Colombia, and Guna Yala, Panama (Oct/Nov 2026) Yasmin Antún (Córdoba, Argentina, 1997) is a transdisciplinary artist working across performance, installation, sculpture, cinema, and photography. Her current practice is part of an ongoing exploration of the taxonomy of animals and plants, intertwining it with human taxonomy. She develops forms and sensitive devices in which plants are placed on the same level as human beings, as well as others in which humans inhabit the skin of animals. Through these operations, she seeks to explore possibilities for more-than-human coexistence and to bridge the distances we have constructed between species. Antún combines a sense of wonder toward the everyday with the intense curiosity of an artist who comes from elsewhere and searches for her path as part of a pack. She uses humor as a tool in her performances, pushing the idea of justice almost to the point of absurdity in a world that seems to be heading toward extinction. Her constant concern for the environment—at times turning into IMPOTENCE—acts as a driving force behind a practice that, far from being apocalyptic, questions our relationships with what surrounds us and the finite nature of those relationships. Her work has been presented in solo and group exhibitions in Córdoba, Buenos Aires, Bogotá, and Barcelona. Highlights include Estadio Inicial at the Centro Cultural Borges in Buenos Aires (2026); Sanatorio de árboles (Tree Sanatorium), presented in the special invited artists section of MAC – Mercado de Arte Contemporáneo de Córdoba; and her solo exhibition La ironía de los halos (The Irony of Halos) at Bastón del Moro (2024). In 2025, she took part in the R.A.R.O. Colombia residency, and in 2026, in the Galpón de Aluminé residency in Argentine Patagonia. She lives and works in Córdoba, Argentina. Her studio practice is divided between Hotel Inminente in the city of Córdoba and Polvora 720 in Buenos Aires. by @lwcurrent
Meet @florence_penry_jones, one of the residents joining La Wayaka Current’s residency programme taking place between Chocó, Colombia, and Guna Yala, Panama (Oct/Nov 2026) Florence Penry Jones (Ireland/UK) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice investigates social and inter-social relationships, often beginning with stories and experiences rooted in familial history, particularly those connected to her mother. Working across a range of media, she explores the transience of memory and the materiality of the emotions and associations these stories evoke. Growing up surrounded by wildlife in the countryside, she often disappeared into her own world, wandering through the woods and imagining stories about the unseen beings and worlds that might inhabit them. This early solitude fostered an enduring fascination with the uncanny, the natural environment and the dark fantasy of the 1980s. Drawn to imagined worlds such as Labyrinth and The Dark Crystal, and more recently to podcasts such as the BBC's Uncanny, she continues to explore the mysterious and the inexplicable through her work. Her practice spans a variety of materials and disciplines, including glass, bronze, installation and printmaking, tracing the strange and often intangible threads that connect them. by @lwcurrent
Meet Melissa Gilbert (@i_am_offerings), one of the residents joining La Wayaka Current’s residency programme taking place between Chocó, Colombia, and Guna Yala, Panama (Oct/Nov 2026) Melissa Gilbert (ØFFERINGS) is a First Nations multidisciplinary artist and descendant of the Mununjali Clan of the Yugambeh Nation, with ties to Quandamooka. Founder of @uniteplayplatform and co-founder of @thenestcreativespace, her practice spans sculpture, installation, performance, sound and experience design. Through immersive environments, reclaimed materials, colour, movement and ritual, she explores how art can transform relationships between people, place and planet. Her work draws on embodied research, ancestral storytelling and pedagogical play as a catalyst for connection and collective transformation. Her work has been presented at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, MONA, Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, Carriageworks, Museum of Brisbane and Rockhampton Museum of Art. Recent projects include Reclaim to Transform at Melbourne Design Week and Hyper Temples and Repatterning the Future at HOTA for BLEACH* Festival. by @lwcurrent
