DOG DAY SOCIAL IS BACK — AND WE’RE GOING EVEN BIGGER. 🐾🍂

After the turnout at our last Dog Day Social, there was no way we weren’t doing it again. This time, we’re bringing back everything you loved, adding even MORE, and taking over the patio with perfect fall weather, cold drinks, happy pups, and an afternoon you seriously don’t want to miss.

In September alone, LWHA paid $10,084 in veterinary expenses, and behind every dollar is a dog who deserves to feel better. From initial vetting to mass removal surgeries, heartworm treatment, and dental care, your support helps give our pups healthier, more comfortable lives.🙏

As we step into a new year of lifesaving work, we want to reintroduce ourselves — our mission and the people behind it.

Long Way Home Adoptables is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2014 as a division of Long Way Home, Inc. We are dedicated to rescuing senior and medical needs dogs and cats from shelters across Texas, ensuring every animal receives the love, care, and dignity they deserve — regardless of age or medical condition.

Through comprehensive veterinary care, compassionate foster homes, and intentional adoption placement, we give vulnerable animals a second chance at life.

Dolly made a new little bestie at our adoption event yesterday, and now she’s wondering when she’ll meet her forever one?!

This little lady has oversized ears, a toothless smile, and a very clear vision for retirement: soft snacks, sunny backyard breaks, and you within snuggling distance.

Dolly came to us when her time at the shelter was running out. Now she’s safe and letting her personality shine. She’ll follow you around like your tiniest supervisor, tuck herself under a blanket, and occasionally file a squeaky complaint if you’re behind on affection. As she settles in, she’s discovering she has opinions—and she’d appreciate a moment of your time to discuss them. 🥰

Her wish list is pretty simple:
🐾 Dog friends, and gentle kiddos are welcome.
☀️ A little backyard frolic? Lovely. Long leash walks? She’ll pass.
🛋️ Cozy afternoons and a spot beside you? Absolutely.
🛏️ At bedtime, she’d love to curl up against you in the human bed.

Dolly appears to be housetrained and goes outside or uses pee pads, though excitement or fear can lead to a small accident. She isn’t destructive and does well with the run of the house while her people are at work.

With no teeth, she needs soft food. Being picked up can also feel scary, so gentle, patient handling without sudden grabbing is a must. Her dream home moves at an easy pace and has plenty of love, and blankets, to spare.🤍

Dolly has made a few appearances here, but we’re still waiting for someone to say, “That’s my girl.” Could her next cozy chapter be with you?

A HUGE thank you to our friends at @tamupaws for hosting our Howl-O-Ween adoption event today!🧡

We absolutely LOVE getting to work with PAWS! Their passion for helping animals and supporting our mission makes these events so special, and we’re so grateful to have such an amazing group of Aggies in our corner!🐾

We had the best time celebrating spooky season together, meeting so many wonderful people, and watching a few of our pups find their forever homes!

Thank you to everyone who came out, and to all of our incredible volunteers, fosters, and supporters who help make events like this possible. We couldn’t do it without you!🫶 by @lwhadoptables

Rogue is ready to fall in love with her furever family! 🧡

At 5 years old and just 6 pounds, this little pumpkin is all about cozy blankets, cute sweaters, and cuddles with her favorite person!🍂
Her perfect fall day? A little nap, a few belly rubs, and YOU! She’ll greet you with a belly ready for rubs in the morning and snuggle beside you at bedtime.

Rogue is good with cats and dogs of all sizes, but appreciates space as she warms up.
She is also crate trained, and working on perfecting her housetraining. She needs regular potty breaks because she doesn’t know how to ask just yet.🐾

🥣 Rogue also needs a little extra help staying hydrated. She eats kibble from a bowl but currently won’t drink water or eat wet food from one, so her family will need to find a serving method she’s comfortable with.

Hi, I’m Zolo, and I’d like to apply for the position of your little shadow!🐾

My qualifications? Oversized paws, bow legs, a tongue that won’t stay in my mouth, and a strong commitment to being wherever you are. I even have my own stairs to the couch. You provide the lap; I’ll handle the commute. 🥹

I love car rides, snacks, dog friends big and small, and cats—even when the feeling isn’t mutual. I can be enthusiastic at first, but I settle in after a day or two. Meals are best enjoyed in my own little dining spot!

I’ve had some hard experiences, so please let me get to know you at my pace. I don’t like being picked up or touched with feet, and I may growl when I need space. A calm home without small children, with someone around much of the day, would help me feel safe. 💛

My legs need a gentle pace, and I take eye drops twice a day like a champ. I ask to go outside and can use a washable pad, too!

You’ve probably seen my face before. But I’m still hoping someone sees it and thinks, “There’s my boy.” 🏡

Hawkeye is all fixed up… now he needs a place to land! 🐾

Neutered ✔️ Vaccinated ✔️ Foster home… still looking!
Hawkeye is SO close to being ready to find his forever home, but first, we need to get him into a foster home!

This sweet, shy boy was one of eight dogs left outside on a porch. He’s still learning that people can be trusted, so his favorite game is “Can you earn my trust?” He needs someone willing to go at his pace and give him time to feel safe.

When you foster with LWHA, we cover all medical bills and provide all the supplies you may need. You provide the safe space and love! ❤️

📍 We’d love to keep Hawkeye in Bryan/College Station, but we also have fosters in the Austin, San Antonio, and Houston areas!

Ummm… do we even have to tell you about Stella, or are you already sold? Fine! We’ll tell you anyway.😍

Stella is six years old, six pounds, and fully convinced she’s royalty! She’s sweet, a little sassy, and open to negotiations—as long as you’re offering treats.👑

Her hobbies include toys, spirited games of tug-of-war, and deciding when it’s officially cuddle o’clock. She’s happy entertaining herself, but when she’s ready for snuggles, she’ll curl up beside you. A queen needs her independence AND her people!💕

Stella walks nicely on leash, is crate trained, and uses pee pads. She’s still polishing her potty routine and will need a patient adopter to help her build consistent habits. Her crate is her cozy little castle, where she currently prefers to sleep and enjoy private dining with the door closed. Room service, please! 🍽️

She gets along with other dogs, peacefully coexists with cats, and is comfortable with both men and women!🐾

Her royal wish list? A home that appreciates her independent streak, respects her boundaries, and gives her time to settle in. In return, you’ll get six pounds of sweetness, sass, and excellent company!🏡
