TRA029: LWS — Gubbins ⏲️🪢

We are starting ‘26 off with a massive one. It was time that our friend, one of the most exciting new producers from the last two years, @lws_lewis, had his own EP at the label. Here, Lewis brings a three-stage bomb with everything that makes him a one-of-a-kind artist. Huge sound design, rolling basslines, leading synths zapped directly into ur brain, and crescendos to scream ur lungs out.

Expect nothing but intensity, both emotionally and physically. Trust us when we tell u: this is a big one for club purposes. Summed up to the tracklist, we arranged a historic collaboration amongst the old and new school from Venezuela. @wostmusic and the legendary @djyirvin, father of ChangaTuki, hopped on to do a revision that encapsulates both the past and the future of the rhythmic genesis from Southamerican electronic music.

From Caracas to Edinburgh, another bridge with extra condiment and sonic power.

very pleased to announce my new record entitled ‘All of the Chaos’ which will be released on november 21st on ‘can you feel the sun’💕

once again, massive thanks to @call_super and @parris.dj for having me back so soon and for really pushing me to try and make the best work i could - i’m so proud of all of these tracks and i hope you love them as much as i do :)

the first single ‘Many Request’ is available to buy now in all of the usual places - i’ve had alot of people asking about this one over the summer and have also had the privilege of hearing it out on some of my favourite systems - love to everyone who has been feeling it already !

✦ ＳＴＲＯＵＤ → ＴＩＳＮＯ ✦

Seasoning emerged in 2022 from the breaks-driven garage revival that shaped post-pandemic dance music culture in the UK.

From our home in Stroud, we spent two years building beautiful dancefloors across the town, Bristol and further afield. Along the way, we reached a musical impasse. We began questioning our understanding of the music, the relationship between soundsystem sonics and deep, progressive playstyles, and how all of this could connect with the depth of soul we were searching for.

In 2024, at The Garden in Tisno, a small gateway opened. At Outlook, a few of the dots between sounds, cultures and ways of playing began to connect. The 2025 edition carried us deeper, taking many of our crew through social, emotional and musical journeys that we are still feeling our way through.

Being invited to contribute a boat party this year is a serious honour.

It carries the work of our crew, residents, friends, venues, soundsystems and selectors. It belongs equally to the open-minded dancers and ravers who have met us, time after time, in Stroud, in warehouses and in some of the best clubs in the UK, trusting us to keep pushing this thing forward.

Outlook is a major keystone of the soundsystem culture that has shaped our lives. Its purity of heart, clarity of purpose and singularity of vision are second to none.

This programme touches several adjacent strands within the wider journey Seasoning has travelled. Some old friends, some new. Every artist here continues to inform, challenge and inspire the vision through their productions and the worlds they build behind the decks.

What is the sound of the summer? It’s a question that comes up around this time every year as festival season comes rolling into view. If you’ve attended any large-scale dance music event over the past couple of years, it’s hard to argue that Edinburgh-based Lewis Williamson, better known as LWS, knows a thing or two about the concept.

In 2024, ‘Steady On’ took festival stages by storm as it appeared in the sets of DJs such as @ben___ufo and @pariah_uk ahead of its release as part of the ‘Palloon’ EP on @call_super and @parris.dj’s’ @can.you.feel.the.sun label. Built around a screwface-inducing bassline, off-kilter percussion and a dizzying breakdown, it was peak-time club music at its chaotic, brilliant best. Last summer, it was the turn of ‘Many Request’ to do the damage from Dekmantel to Houghton. With whirring synths, driving drums and, naturally, another head-spinning breakdown, it garnered legions of track ID requests in the run-up to its release.

LWS has also been establishing a connection with @verraco__, @nyksan_ and @djlomalinda’s @tratratrax imprint over the past two years. His 2024 tracks ‘Snips’ and ‘Gum Seleks’, with their rumbling sound design trickery, were highlights among the label’s ‘no pare, sigue sigue’ compilation series. In February, the ‘Gubbins’ EP dropped. Part of TraTraTrax’s expansion from its Latin American roots to building bridges with like-minded artists around the world, the zapping synths and propulsive percussion of its title-track are already destined to dominate festival sets all-summer-long.

For his instalment of The Mix, @lws_lewis serves up a chaotically percussive selection that pushes into deeper and ever groovier territory. “I’ve been loving the chaotic energy of these really percussive, drum-focused tracks, and how that can be weaved through all different kinds of music to create something that sounds extremely natural and organic,” he explains.

In the accompanying interview, LWS speaks about the moment that sparked his obsession with "headfuck" music and not wanting to be pigeonholed as a producer.

Easily one of the most captivating techno producers to emerge from the UK in recent years, Edinburgh’s own LWS has been earning major plaudits for his tracks released on TraTraTrax, can you feel the sun and a host of other esteemed labels.

A killer DJ to match, he joins us off the back of shows in Oslo, Manchester, Bristol and London, as well as his Sneaky Pete’s residency with @agora.edi

LWS and @pedermannerfelt go back to 2022 with his excellent ‘Pendrum / Now That’s Focus!’ release, so it only felt right getting this linkup to happen IRL when we had the opportunity.
