Our parents taught us how to survive.

Now we get to learn how to build.

That distinction matters.

A lot of the money lessons we grew up with came from real experience:

Save everything.
Avoid debt.
Don’t talk about money.
Work hard.
Be grateful for what you have.

Those beliefs helped many families make it through seasons of uncertainty, immigration, sacrifice, and starting over.

They were not foolish.
They were protective.

But some lessons that made sense for one generation may need an update for the next.

Saving still matters - but so does understanding inflation and investing.

Avoiding reckless debt still matters - but not every form of debt serves the same purpose.

Privacy still matters - but silence can leave the next generation financially unprepared.

Hard work still matters - but effort without a plan can keep a family running in place.

And protection still matters - but today’s financial tools deserve to be understood clearly, not dismissed or oversold.

This is what first-gen wealth building can look like:

Keep the values.
Upgrade the strategy.

Honor the sacrifice that got you here.

Then build something even stronger with what you know now.

Swipe through for 5 money beliefs many of us grew up hearing - and how to update them without disrespecting where they came from.

Comment "UPGRADE" and tell me which one you heard the most growing up.

Love doesn’t come with paperwork.

Unfortunately, inheritance does.

In a blended family, you may be trying to protect:

Your spouse.
Your biological children.
Your stepchildren.
Children from a previous relationship.
And sometimes financial commitments connected to an ex.

You can love every one of them equally - and still accidentally create a plan that treats them very differently.

That’s why "they know what I would want" is not an estate plan.

Old beneficiary forms can still exist.

Stepchildren may not have the same inheritance rights as biological or legally adopted children.

Leaving everything outright to a surviving spouse may not guarantee that assets eventually reach children from an earlier relationship.

And verbal promises?

They can disappear when circumstances, relationships, or people change.

None of this means blended families are destined for conflict.

It means they need more intentional paperwork.

The goal is to make your wishes so clear that nobody has to interpret them during an already emotional time.

Who receives what?
When do they receive it?
Who controls it?
What happens if someone dies first?

And do your beneficiary forms, insurance policies, will, trust, and retirement accounts actually tell the same story?

That conversation today can prevent a very different conversation later.

Swipe through for 5 places blended families should review carefully.

Comment "BLENDED" for a private, zero-judgment conversation about building a plan around your family - not somebody else’s definition of one.

You got the keys.

You signed the papers.

You survived the inspections, the closing costs, the moving boxes, and the endless emails.

Now comes the part almost nobody talks about:

Protecting the life you just bought.

Because buying a home changes more than your address.

It changes your financial responsibilities.

Your mortgage is bigger.
Your monthly obligations are different.
Your emergency fund may be smaller.
And suddenly, someone else may be counting on your income to keep the house.

That means your old financial plan might not fit your new life anymore.

After closing, check five things:

Your life insurance.
Your emergency savings.
Your beneficiary information.
Your estate documents.
And every account still connected to your old address.

Homeownership is a huge milestone.

But the goal is not just to buy the house.

The goal is to make sure your family can keep it.

Swipe through for the new-homeowner money checklist worth doing before the paint colors, furniture upgrades, and kitchen remodel.

And if you just bought a home, comment "KEYS."

We’ll help you look at your new numbers and see whether your protection still matches your life.

Your employer just gave you a menu of benefits.

Most people will spend more time choosing what to order for dinner tonight.

Open enrollment shows up, we click a few boxes, choose whatever we had last year, and hit CONFIRM.

But those 30 minutes can affect your finances for the next 12 months - and sometimes much longer.

Here’s the distinction more employees need to understand:

Some benefits are great to GET through work.
Some protections are worth considering OWNING outside of work.

Your employer may help subsidize health coverage.
Your retirement plan may include matching contributions.
You might receive basic life insurance at little or no cost.

Those can be valuable benefits. Take advantage of what makes sense for you.

But then ask the question people forget:

"What happens to my protection if I leave this company?"

Because jobs change.
Companies restructure.
People get laid off.
Benefits get redesigned.
And the coverage that felt permanent can sometimes end with the employment relationship.

That doesn’t mean workplace benefits are bad.

It means work benefits and personal financial planning have different jobs.

This open enrollment season, don’t just ask:

☑️ What does my employer offer?

Also ask:

☑️ What do I need regardless of who signs my paycheck?

Save this carousel before you make your elections - and send it to the coworker who always clicks "same as last year."

Comment "ENROLL" if you want help identifying questions to ask before you finalize your benefits.

TOP 100, HERE WE GO! 😍🎤❤️

I went to bed last night manifesting that I’d wake up to an email with good news. I literally tried to stay asleep until 5 a.m., just in case the email hadn’t come through yet. When I checked my email icon and saw only three emails, I immediately thought… oh no…

But sure enough, the email I’d been dreaming about was there!!! I immediately took a screenshot and sent it straight to @invitationtosucceed and then @amylinopulence. I stayed in bed for over an hour before getting ready for the day. During that time, I went on Facebook and started commenting on the other finalists’ posts and showing love to those who didn’t receive the same news.

I want to thank @kaleychu and her team for an amazing five-day Next Top Speaker workshop and for helping me take this next step toward a dream I’ve had for years! 🥹

Congratulations to all my fellow finalists! And an even bigger celebration for everyone who showed up, submitted their trailer, and took a chance on themselves, including our Top 200. That courage deserves recognition! 👏✨

Come cheer me on THIS FRIDAY, October 23, at 1 p.m. Pacific Time, live on Zoom! There will also be a People’s Choice Award after Round 1, so scan the QR code for your FREE ticket. I’d love to see you there! 🥰

Now it’s time to prepare myself for this competition! 😂🎤🤞

Receiving wealth and keeping wealth are two completely different skills.

That’s the part nobody talks about enough.

A family can spend decades building assets…

then lose direction in a single generation because nobody explained:

How the money was built.
What the assets were for.
What should be protected.
What should never be sold casually.
And what the next generation is responsible for preserving.

Because inheritance without education can become consumption.

Inheritance without structure can become conflict.

And inheritance without a plan can disappear much faster than anyone expected.

That’s why generational wealth is not just about how much you leave.

It’s about what you leave with it.

The conversations.
The instructions.
The beneficiaries.
The estate plan.
The financial literacy.
The values around money.

The strongest families don’t wait until someone passes away to explain everything.

They prepare the next generation while everyone is still at the table.

And you do not need millions to start.

Generational wealth can begin with one policy.
One investment account.
One home.
One properly updated beneficiary form.
One family conversation that changes how money is handled from that point forward.

The amount matters.

But the system behind the amount matters more.

Swipe through for why transferring wealth is only half the job.

Comment "LEGACY" if you want your family to inherit more than money.
