🎭 MASK OFF
“They All Wear Masks Sometimes”

An illusion of love, a revelation of character.
They all wear masks sometimes,
Disguising intentions with beautiful lies.
Some come as lovers, some come as friends,
Some only stay till the benefit ends.
I mistook their presence for something divine,
While giving away pieces of what was mine.
But even a moth knows where there’s light,
And not everything drawn to you deserves the right.
For every mask that falls, another truth is revealed by @lx.ether

A storm can live inside you
without becoming your identity.

I can feel resentment
without becoming cruel.

Feel guilt
without sentencing myself forever.

Feel anxiety
without believing every thought.

Feel pain
without building my home inside it.

Feel overwhelmed
and still take one more step.

Maybe that’s what growing is—

not becoming untouched by life,

but becoming someone
who can be touched by it deeply
without losing herself completely.

I am not trying to erase
where I’ve been.

I am trying to make sure
where I’ve been
doesn’t decide
where I go next.

And perhaps
the most beautiful thing about life
is that the cycle can end
with the same person
who once thought
she was destined
to repeat it. by @lx.ether
