Wrote this one some years ago with @mynameisames & @byaginc ❤️ It ended up on @doconfoxtv this year so I decided to produce it (my first fully self produced release!!) and now it’s out in the world. This song has become so special to me. Sometimes songs are teachers, that’s what this one has been for me. Taught me about radical self acceptance, about befriending my brokenness. Thank you to everyone who’s been showing it so much love already. I hope you enjoy listening to it as much as I’ve enjoyed creating it. Happy pride!!! Here comes a few thoughts I felt like sharing today. 🧚🏼

Accepting the fluidity of being has been one of the biggest gifts I’ve recieved in this life. It has opened my heart and my mind, to experience this life to its fullest.
Being yourself is not being someone elses or your own expectation of you, it is just being, your own truth. This realization, in its simplicity, was mind blowing to me. To let myself be, in every moment. Not trying to fit in a box or be what people wanted me to be. To stand up against the patriarchal, capitalist and colonial structures and the old notions of sexuality and gender. That is what queerness is to me. A silent, and sometimes loud, revolution. Every day.

Being queer is one of the best things about me. Breaking the norm, living a life full of love and joy despite the world trying to stop you, that is bravery, that is rebellion. That is strength. LGBTQIA+ people are guiding the world towards a future where everyone embraces their true being, who they truly are. Some others, like bigots and many of our world leaders, seem to have a hard time keeping up. Sure it is scary to look yourself in the eye and actually let yourself see what is there. But that should never come at the cost of other peoples rights, let alone lives. The things we humans do when we keep living in that fear and pain are so incredibly brutal and horrifying. We keep seeing this every day now. Fear kills. Remember that.

Pride month is soon over, but the fight isn’t. We need to stand up against oppression until everyone has the right to be themselves in their everyday lives and in the eyes of the law and feel safe, protected and respected, always. None of us are free until all of us are free.

The world feels dark right now, but there is so much love, especially in this community. There is power in us, together.
