What’s happening in Chicago’s underground? For EPISODE 1, I sit down with artist and curator, @lxrdkeno , of @freemindchi , a local collective specializing in darker (techno-focused) genres of electronic music including gabber, schranz, hardgroove, bochka, and more. This was my first time at a Free Mind event, and I was immediately struck but its strong sense of community. The DJs each brought something new to the dance floor - and every attendee was fully present (no one was on their phone during their event). You could immediately sense that Free Mind has garnered a group of followers dedicated purely to the love of the music and a fearlessness of exploring less mainstream genres. In this interview, ERØS discusses the foundations of Free Mind, its place in the community, and the challenges faced by artists in Chicago’s music scene. Catch their next event on August 22nd . #Techno #interview #musicjournalism #gabber #industrial by @lxrderos
