I had the privilege of attending She Means Business—a powerful event that brought together an inspiring community of women business owners.

One of my favorite moments from CCW Las Vegas was joining Shaquille O' Neal on stage.

And for those who know me… you know that in my mind, I'm the tallest person on every stage. 😄

I was in my 20s when I walked into a room full of strangers — all brought together for a special project under Strategic Command.

We didn’t know each other’s stories, backgrounds, or strengths. What we did know was that we had a mission — one that demanded trust before titles, teamwork before comfort, and clarity before certainty.

There were long days, unexpected hurdles, and moments that tested not just what we knew, but who we were. Yet, somewhere between the chaos and the challenge, something incredible happened —we became a team.

We learned how to lead without authority, follow with purpose, and listen more than we spoke. We discovered that leadership doesn’t begin when you’re handed a title — it begins when you decide to take ownership, even when no one’s watching.

Years later, that experience still defines how I show up — in business, in life, in every challenge that demands resilience and trust.

On this Veterans Day, I’m reminded of those who live that truth every single day.

Those who lead quietly, serve selflessly, and inspire others to do the same.

Gratitude — not just for their service, but for the lessons in courage, humility, and purpose they’ve gifted us all.

Have you ever been told, “You’re not ready yet” — even when you’re already doing the job?

I was working with a Director who had been carrying the responsibilities of a VP for over a year. Her team relied on her. Her projects were delivering millions in revenue. Yet every time a senior role opened up, she heard the same line: “Not ready yet.”

She came to me frustrated, because “not ready” didn’t mean she lacked results. It meant she wasn’t being seen as a leader at the next level.

Here’s the hard truth:
promotions aren’t just about performance.
They’re about perception.

If the room doesn’t experience you as confident, credible, and commanding — your results alone won’t speak loudly enough.

When she learned to walk into a room and own it — not by being louder, but by projecting calm authority — everything changed. Within 6 months, she didn’t just get promoted, she became the leader they couldn’t imagine the room without.
