Introducing our eight-piece live band!

We are so lucky to have this tremendously talented group of professional musicians on board for our production of Dear Evan Hansen.

Introducing...
Toni Schmidt (Band Lead & Keyboard)
Emmet Conefery (Guitar 1)
Genevieve Eckel (Guitar 2)
Maurice Stenzel (Bass)
Jan-Hendrik Friedhoff (Drums)
Lydia Paulos (Cello)
Gustavo Garay (Violin)
Judith Retzlik (Viola)

Leading the band of talented musicians you'll enjoy live during this production is Toni Schmidt on keys, who has accompanied us in all our past full-scale productions: I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change (2023), The Wedding Singer (2023), Next to Normal (2024), and Little Shop of Horrors (2025). Also back in the rhythm section are our dynamic duo Maurice and Jan-Hendrik on bass and drums, respectively, returning for their fourth Encore! full-scale production. Joining us again after Little Shop of Horrors is Emmet on guitar with Genevieve, Lydia, Gustavo and Judith completing this incredible line up.

Collectively, our musicians bring a wealth of experience from both English and German language musicals, including We Will Rock You, The Rocky Horror Show, Hair, Zum Sterben schön, Rent, All Shook Up, The Prom, Jason und die Argonauten and Um Mitternacht. A special note to our cellist, Lydia Paulos, who played the US National Tours of Dear Evan Hansen and Hadestown (whaaaat!).

You've met the cast, you've met the crew, and now you've met the band. We are beyond excited for this week, and cannot wait to share this moment with you all. Dear Evan Hansen is finally happening! 🩵👋

Putting my flutist hat back on (and popping briefly back onto socials!) to share that our new trio, Ensemble Geschichte, is performing our debut Musical Reading on Saturday, 13. Juni at 20Uhr. If you're in Berlin, please come by!

📚 My partner Alex will be reading Ray Bradbury's wonderful short story "The Toynbee Convector," alongside music by @valerie_coleman_music , Haydn, and Mozart. Doesn't get better than that!

Donation-basis; Please RSVP at service@otherland-berlin.de

❤️ It has been such a joy to play with @lydiaplayscello and @zossiemusic , and we are grateful to have been received so warmly by the Berlin literary community. Getting to take photos at @saintgeorgesbookshop was a dream, and we can't wait to perform at @otherlandbookshop next week. Otherland is the first place I thought of for this event and I was overjoyed when they agreed to host us. 🤩 See you there!

Chamber music party at the library!
The Berlin public library system has an amazing treasure trove of sheet music available - come check some of it out! This event is open to all string instrument players - we'll be checking out trios, quartets, quintets, etc. - as well as anybody at all who just wants to watch and listen to musicians having fun!
If you're interested in playing, be sure to register in advance with your instrument. This event is for advanced and professional players comfortable with sightreading, at least 14 years old. But kids are super welcome to come and watch!
Snacks will be provided by the Helene-Nathan Bibliothek as well. We are super thankful for their support in this collab event!
