You don’t need to know exactly where you’re going in order to make a decision. You just need to know the rough direction you want to move in. And that can be things like, I want more money, I want more time, I want more creativity...

Hi, I’m Lydia, and I started a podcast for anyone dealing with the big, lifechanging questions that come up in your 30s. Sometimes we get hot women on. Sometimes they say they don’t want to lower their standards in dating. And sometimes men on the internet freak out.

And I realised really quickly that you can present any sound, logical, evidence-based argument and these men will A) not listen anyway, and B) just start hurling insults at you. You can’t beat them at their own game but you CAN troll them back.

Women, how many times have you had a conversation with someone where they just assume your life goal is to get married and have kids?

“When you get married”, “when you meet someone”, “when you settle down”.

It comes from society, it comes from film and literature, and loooord knows it comes from extended family members who probably mean well. But all it does is reinforce this idea that there is one way to have a good life. And if you’re not on that path, or if you don’t necessarily want that life, you’re wrong.

This week’s pod is a solo episode and we’re unpacking all the scripts we’re handed, and how they influence our decisions WAY before we even realise.
