For this project I made a neck& shoulder holder that functions as a body extension to support and correct the posture of the human body. My inspiration were the Caryatids. The caryatids stand where columns once would have been. Carved as women, they hold roofs and temples on their heads, turning human form into structure. Their function is practical, to bear weight, but their meaning is symbolic. They show that strength and beauty can exist together. Caryatids stand for perseverance, duty, and quiet strength. They remind us that what supports and holds things up is often not immediately noticed.

The base is made of leather, with open adjustable sides. The function is translated to a modern context. Screen use and office work often lead to poor posture, causing neck and back problems. The function of this piece, like the caryatids, is to continuously guide the body into a better posture while offering physical support and strengthening. by @lydsportfolio

For my first ever try to make a photo series, I had to make a series in the theme: “me, myself and I”. I chose to ask friends and family this question to figure out how they see me :”if I was a thing, and it could be anything, alive or dead, touchable or not, what would I be in your eyes?”
I wanted very honest answers, not romanticized answers. I was actually very curious about what they would say, and see if this is how I see myself as well. All of the answers were beautiful and honest, they embraced both my bubbly and sensitive side. One of my friends told me I would be a rubric’s cube & I was confused at first, but then this was the beautiful explanation I got:

“If you were an object, you’d be a Rubik’s Cube, because you’re a person with deeply intense emotions, which I would compare to the cube’s colors.
The different sides of your character remind me of its facets.

Many people might see you but not truly understand you.
But the one who takes the time to get to know you, who learns to understand each side of your personality, will see those beautiful emotions come together and fall into place.
And then, they’ll discover something truly beautiful and perfectly complete.”

First of all I felt very grateful about this answer. I felt seen and appreciated. This one touched me because I do have a vulnerable side and I have a bit of a chaotic character sometimes. That’s why I’m extremely grateful for the sweeeeet people around me who really took this moment to think about this question and answer it in all honesty.

After thinking about this comparison I used the symbolism and explanation behind this object to create something that feels pure and vulnerable.
I used the prettiest @sihaamwashere as my model. Even though this picture might not be “ perfect” I am very content with the outcome. Learning all the techniques of photography, my camera and editing in just 8 lessons felt like a lot at first, but this picture holds a deep symbolic meaning for me and I’m very happy with it. by @lydsportfolio

For this school project, I explored denim applications inspired by the theme “Organized Chaos.” My main source of inspiration was spiderwebs. At first, a spiderweb may appear chaotic and tangled, but it’s actually a highly functional and purposeful structure.

Every thread in the web serves a specific role, whether for hunting, movement, or structural support. Despite its visual complexity, the web reflects a precise and intentional design. It allows the spider to create order within a chaotic environment. This embodies the symbolism of my theme perfectly by @lydsportfolio
