Just finished up this fawn piece yesterday. I’ve seen so many this spring since moving to the country and was inspired ✨ I’m getting a bit better at identifying and keeping track of the wood I’m using, in this one we have cherry, white oak, zebra wood, bocote, roasted maple, wenge, shedua, and a couple others I can’t remember. This is my 5th piece, first time trying inlays. With each piece I’m trying something new, and learning something new. Thinking the next piece might be a portrait 🤔
All the wood is from @thewood_vault in Ottawa, fantastic place!

For my fourth piece, I created my dog Bosco. My constant companion, my shadow, my bff. I’ll definitely do another piece of him in the future once I have my skills sharpened more. He’s such a handsome lad 🎩🐶 by @lynethmorgan

This is my first intarsia piece. I haven’t had any real woodworking experience since a high school wood shop class, and we don’t need to discuss how long ago that was 😅. It’s been something I’ve been wanting to try for a while and when I saw artists doing this work online I had to try it. Finally moved to the country and had a little shed I could use so I got myself a cheap saw to try it out. Naturally something western inspired and also an animal was my first subject. I’ve done a few more since then but still learning so much! by @lynethmorgan

My third intarsia project. I had this old frame kicking around for years, it’s an odd size so never really did anything with it. I spent a lot of time in Jasper in my 20s and decided to make a custom piece of mount Robson, the tallest peak in the Canadian Rockies and located in Jasper National Park. by @lynethmorgan

First time doing inlays! And of course I decided to give myself a ton of them too. Getting the hang of it.

This is my second intarsia piece. I made this one as a gift for my mom, it’s her favourite mountain - Mount Rundle in Banff. I really love the way this turned out and already have plans for a large mountain piece. I’m figuring out new things all the time, I’m teaching myself so it’s been quite the learning curve.

This big horn sheep was my first ever intarsia piece. I’d been wanting to try it out for a while, and when I moved to the country I finally had the space for a workshop. So I picked up a cheap old scroll saw, got some wood, and drew my pattern. The Rocky Mountains have a very special place in my heart and I thought a big horn sheep would also make for a great wood piece. I can say I was instantly in love with this art form! So many new ideas coming to me, and I can’t wait to make them all.
