Today I celebrate my beautiful queen! 👑Marina Annie Jones Webster! The most beautiful woman to ever walk the planet! My rock! My warrior! The strongest woman I've ever had the pleasure of knowing! The one and only person who could have birthed me and my crazy sister! The only one who was 5'1 (said she was 5'3 she knew she was lying) and would reach up and say, "Nique don't play with me!!I'm not too short to bring you down to size!" LOLOL!!! Nothing intimidated her, not even cancer!!! Mommy I can't even lie and say I'm not sad, to be honest I'm heartbroken, this is the second time I've had to do this...I'm not too happy about it...but as much as I would have loved to be screaming in your face right now and hearing you tell me to shut up like only you could do, I know you are having the best heavenly 50th birthday party ever! It's so much better than any party we could have ever thrown! But you best believe I'm still gonna throw you a party, just because you aren't physically here doesn't mean we can't still celebrate you! We're gonna turn up for you mom!!! I'm so hype for this...idk when it's gonna happen but please know that it's going to be the FIRE🔥Mom I miss you so very much and I pray that everyday that I live is a celebration of the life that you lived and the life you raised me to live! I have the pleasure of making you proud everyday that I wake up, and that makes living without you physically here a little easier. I pray that I make you smile when I sing, I miss that so much! I miss your hugs and kisses! I miss hearing you laugh, watching you dance, hearing you sing(terribly, but so beautifully at the same time), on the real mom I just miss you, but I know you are with me every step of the way! 30 was good to me! Graduated from undergrad!!! My pop pop passed away!!! 😭Saw Beyonce with my sister! 🐝 My concert bucket list is being crossed off faithfully ☑️…you know we love live music here! Started my dream job and switched counties👩🏾‍🏫 Bought a car! 🚗 Went back to therapy! 😮‍💨Found out I officially have ADHD! But I know it’s my SUPERPOWER 🦸🏾‍♀️! My Granny died! 👵🏾 Went back to Trinidad 🇹🇹 to get her burnt up!!! 🔥I let the ocean 🌊 do some healing and rested in the place my mommy grew up and my granny bossed up! Came home needed something fresh so I got my cousin to color ❤️🩷 my hair shout out to @divas_retreat 💇🏾‍♀️💁🏾‍♀️. Gained a whole family shout out to my Elpus Fammo 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒and my suite in the basement! I really live with my teacher, our wife, and our kids at least once a week! I sang down for some weddings! 👰🏽‍♀️🤵🏾Went crazy in church leading worship! 💒Changed my approach to teaching music in church and it paid off! My bestie got engaged! 💍I met amazing musicians and educators! 🎶 shout out to my soulful tunes! My besties are THRIVING! 🕺🏾🧜🏾‍♀️🧚🏾‍♀️👯‍♀️My sister still my bestie! Grandma 🧡

Grandma it’s been 22 years since you’ve been gone from this earth…Where does the time go? I wasn’t ready for the never ending flood of emotions that occurred when Granny passed almost 3 weeks ago now. I didn’t even process how much I didn’t remember of your passing until now. Being 30 and losing a grandmother and being seven are drastically different. Dad protected Taylan and I fiercely from seeing how much cancer impacted your wellness. I saw some of it, but didn’t get a front row seat until mommy was put in that similar position. Although my mind didn’t remember much, I was surprised by how much my body remembered feeling the magnitude of your absence. As a child there is nothing like being nurtured by love and I have to say that I remember being woken up at an ungodly hour to ride in the car with dad from Gaithersburg to Columbia. There would be a seamless transition from my bed at home to yours at the apartment. For a while it was just me then of course Taylan came along and was in the bed with us! What I remember most about those mornings, was your warmth. You were so warm and you had this fierceness yet quiet strength about you that made you an impeccable nurturer. I feel so blessed to be your granddaughter. Although our time was ultimately short I remember feeling so loved and cared for and that’s all a child really needs. That love that extends beyond words to actions. Above all things Grandma, you loved well! Every single one of your grandchildren were LOVED WELL! If I could speak to you now, I would say a GINORMOUS and RESOUNDING
THANK YOU! Thank you for raising an INCREDIBLE baby boy, he became the best daddy a girl could ever ask for!!!! Grandma I’m so grateful for your life, regardless of how short it was your legacy will live forever!

Whew Anniversary went a little something like this! Carmencita is actively rolling in her grave, cuz who would ever let me squall like this?!

But whew the glory that filled that sanctuary was tangible! I felt my help in there somewhere my partner in crime @tddogg12 with her soprano assistance on that “fill this place..fill this place-hey-ace”. 🤯🙌🏾🗣️SING HEFFA

We just finished singing “Alpha and Omega” and the crazy thing is God had me change our second song last minute. I think he wanted to remind me and anyone else who feels stuck in the middle that he is the Alpha(Beginning) and the Omega(End). 😩🥹😭

This reminder comes conveniently as I’m in the very middle of my internship, in my LAST SEMESTER of my bachelors degree 😭🙌🏾…I felt God so strongly giving me my second wind to FINALLY finish this thing! 😮‍💨

Philippians 1:6 says, “Being confident of this very thing, that he that began a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ!” 🏃🏾‍♀️💨😭🙌🏾

So I’ll tell you what I’m tired but I’m not through! (cue “I Don’t Feel No Ways Tired”)

Romans 8:18 says, “For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared to the glory which shall be revealed in us.” 🏃🏾‍♀️💨😭🙌🏾

For anybody who needs to hear it like I needed to this is your reminder to 🗣️KEEP GOING! KEEP PRESSING! DONT STOP! DONT QUIT! THE GLORY IS COMING! I LOVE Y’ALL! 🖤

I used to go over to Pastor’s side after church almost every Sunday and yell,🗣 ”Hey Pastor! how you doing?” He’d say, “Hey girl, I’m tired, but I’m hanging in there, plus you know you got enough energy for me and this whole building, keep singing, I love you Little Maurice!” Then he’d smile that signature Pastor smile and say, “You know you got your mama’s face and your daddy’s everything else!” That used to make me giggle every week, I’m gonna miss that so much! I feel so honored to have been at a church where my pastor knew so much about me, my family, and everything that makes living worthwhile! This man was the epitome of love and Pastor I’m sad for us because your presence down here is going to be sorely missed, but my Lord I am so happy for you! I know you’re somewhere around God’s altar, or somewhere around God’s throne, one day I’ll look for you and I know you’ll be there! I know you’re running around up there!! Please say hi to all those who went on before you, but for me could you please give my mommy a big hug! I love you sir and I’m grateful to have been loved by you and one of the sheep in your flock!
