15 years ago, I became your mom at 17… and since that day we’ve grown up together . 🖤Watching you turn into the young woman you are today leaves me completely speechless. You are absolutely beautiful, incredibly smart, and effortlessly hilarious. 😅You’ve exceeded every expectation I ever had, and then some. I look at you and think, “How did I get so lucky?” 😭We’ve been through every stage of life, learning, growing, and figuring it out together. I’m still gently gathering the shattered pieces of who I am, piece by piece, from the ground where they fell. The memories of what I’ve walked through still play in my mind, reminding me how far I’ve come, and how deep the valleys have been. But somehow, I’m starting to find myself again.It’s been a solid 35 days since I’ve seen an ER or laid in a hospital bed since last August. That’s not something I take for granted. People have told me lately that they can hear “Courtney” in my voice again, and when I look in the mirror, I no longer see someone fading away. I see someone slowly returning.I spent the 4th of July with one of my siblings, and even though I wished we could have all been together, there was nowhere else I would have rather been than with my kids, my brother, and my nephews. Today, I’m with my boys, doing what they love, letting these small moments rebuild parts of me that I thought were lost.Day by day, I’m making the effort to piece myself back together. It isn’t easy. The tears still come, grieving the person I used to be, the life I can’t go back to. I’m approaching a year since this chapter began, and I can’t put into words what my family and I have truly faced. I’ve shared what I could publicly, but behind closed doors, it has been darker than I could ever explain.Now, I’m learning to take small steps. To rest when my body begs me to. To spend time with the people I love instead of working my life away when I’m able to move and live again.This season is about my comeback, but it’s more than that. 📚 Freshman Year ‘25 📚 A HUGE thank you to our favorite @kirbipittmanphotography for being the one behind the lens to capture our girl! 🥹 Time is a thief and I wish it would slow down. For Chris and I, our babies are our world, and giving them a life far beyond what we had is what we bust our asses for daily. I can say without a shadow of a doubt our kids live the best life and giving them things to make them feel special is my love language. A special photoshoot for freshman year sounded like FUN and that’s exactly what we did! Thank you Kirbi.
