Things I’ve Learned Working in Healthcare

1. It’s okay not to have all the answers.
Just like any other craft, experience builds both your knowledge and your confidence. Don’t resist the learning process. It’s okay to ask for help and admit your mistakes, that’s often the fastest way to grow.

2. Compassion is a choice.
Showing compassion isn’t something that happens automatically. It’s a choice you make every single day, to care with an open mind, and an open heart even when it’s difficult.

3. Patients have so much to teach us.
My patients have taught me gratitude. They’ve taught me how precious life is.
They’ve shown me how painful love can be, but also how it’s one of life’s greatest gifts.
If you take the time to truly see your patients and listen to their stories, I promise they’ll leave a mark on you. They’ll inspire you in ways you never expected.

4. It’s all in the little details.
The more attention you give to the small details, the better the care you provide. Never underestimate the value of the seemingly small tasks, they often make the biggest difference.

5. The mind is more powerful than we often realize.
A person’s mindset can play a huge role in how fast they recover. Having a positive outlook is not just lalaland talks, it works like magic.

I cherish every moment i spent in that place, the good and the bad. I’m grateful for every person i’ve worked with (even the ones who tested my patience), i’m grateful for every patient i cared for, especially the ones i had the honor of being with during their final moments.
