Mother’s Day has always been bittersweet for my sister and me, having lost our mom so early in life. Fortunately, our mom had already instilled in us the importance of family, support and love. Today though tough for me is the perfect time to honor my sister, Suzanne , Ashlie’s “Titi”. Aunt extraordinaire! At times when motherhood became overwhelming for me I could always count on Sue to step in . Ashlie could always count on her Titi when she felt misunderstood by me or when she wanted to vent about anything for hours on end. Sue was always there as a confidant with an understanding spirit. Because my sister and I share similar values I could trust that any guidance given was always with Ashlie’s best interest at heart. Sue and Ashlie shared a love of Prince , Snoop, day long shopping excursions to NJ and could keep each other laughing for hours. They were not just aunt and niece but friends. To say she spoiled Ashlie would be an understatement. I could not have asked for a better aunt for my child. That my sister was with Ashlie during Ashlie’s final hours has given me immense comfort on many days.

When my sister became a mom to my beloved niece, Olivia, it was no surprise to see her thrive in that role as well. The four of us share a bond that will never be broken.
Happy Mother’s Day Suzanne! An amazing mom, aunt and sister. You are loved and appreciated beyond measure. ❤️.

Love and light filled the sanctuary as family and friends came to say goodbye to my beloved daughter, Ashlie. Pastor @mikewalrond delivered a eulogy that will be remembered by many. She will be missed always & forever. Heart of my heart ❤️ May her spirit soar and her light live on. Ashlie Nicole Gray 💔🙏🏾

This week, I suffered the most tragic and sudden loss, the passing of my amazing, beautiful daughter Ashlie. Not having her here on earth with me is incomprehensible at this time, and now lost is what I am.

She was the brightest star in my universe, and her light touched everyone who had the fortune to know and love her. I don’t know what to do or how to prepare for life without my daughter who was also my friend, so I ask for your prayers not just at this time, but forever.

We will celebrate Ashlie’s life and honor her in her beloved home of Harlem, New York, next week. Details forthcoming. by @lynnemcd

A must read for every American at this time. It’s a very quick read but will illuminate the similarities to other times in history where the unthinkable actually happened. In many instances the destruction of a democracy happens because the citizens think that what they are witnessing couldn’t possibly take hold in their country. It does and can… even when guardrails, like a constitution, checks and balances, etc are in place.
