Jeffrey Gibson’s THIS BURNING WORLD continues to be on view in San Francisco, spanning the full Mission Street façade of the former Bloomingdale’s building at San Francisco Centre.

Adapted from the artist’s 2022 video installation into a tapestry-like field of pattern and color, the work reflects on our collective relationship with the planet, asserting the power of art to forge connection and civic experience.

LYRA is proud to be supporting ambitious public art commissions that become part of the city’s landscape. Through public presence, scale, and emotional resonance, projects like this show how art actively shapes social and cultural progress.

Camille Henrot’s first-ever live performance, “Commedia dell’arte,” premieres in New York City on September 23, 2026 at L’Alliance New York Florence Gould Theater. Fresh off its one-night world premiere at the Wheeler Opera House as part of the Aspen Art Museum’s 2026 AIR Festival, New York audiences can see the show over three evening performances and one matinee. The box office is open — link in bio!

Henrot’s performance incorporates the stock characters and comic ploys of the Italian Renaissance theatrical tradition within a modern-day New York City apartment building. The delivery of a package triggers a cascade of uncanny events among tenants, as the tragi-comedic play attempts to make sense out of the senseless, ultimately collapsing into it.

Performances:
September 23-25 at 7:30PM
September 26 at 2:00PM

“Commedia dell’arte” is directed by Camille Henrot, with a script by Camille Henrot, Estelle Hoy, and Justine Gelfman, and music composed and performed by Mauro Hertig and Aaron David Ross. It features set design by Adam Charlap Hyman of Charlap Hyman & Herrero, in collaboration with Camille Henrot, choreography and rehearsal direction by Sigrid Lauren, lighting design by Dan Stearns, costume design by Sandra Berrebi, and make-up design by Ayami Nishimura. The work is performed by Samori Etienne, Maya Margarita, Christina Catherine Martinez, Bobbi Salvör Menuez, Isa Spector, and Alex Tatarsky. It is produced by Julia Simpson (Performa) and Eliza Ryan (Aspen Art Museum), with associate production by Dria Brown, and stage management by Philip Trevino, with many others.

Commedia dell’arte is curated by RoseLee Goldberg, founding Director and Chief Curator of Performa and Eliza Ryan, Curator-at-Large, Aspen Art Museum. Co-commissioned by Performa, Aspen Art Museum / Wheeler Opera House, and LYRA Art Foundation. The commissioning of Commedia dell’arte was initiated in 2023 by RoseLee Goldberg, founding Director and Chief Curator of Performa. by @lyra.foundation

LYRA is proud to co-commission Camille Henrot’s Commedia dell’arte, the artist’s first work for the stage, premiering at the Wheeler Opera House on July 30 as part of Aspen Art Museum’s 2026 AIR Festival.

Henrot incorporates the stock characters and comic devices of Italian Renaissance theatrical tradition into a present-day New York apartment building, where a delivered package sets off a chain of uncanny events among the tenants. As the tragi-comic play attempts to make sense of the senseless, it ultimately collapses into absurdity.

Earlier this year, LYRA Art Foundation presented selected works from the LYRA Collection at the Third Floor gallery in NYC. The exhibition brought together historical and emerging voices united by pioneering ideas, including Judy Chicago, Agnes Denes, Yoko Ono, Barbara Kruger, Joseph Yeager, Kenturah Davis, and Petrit Halilaj.

The collection reflects LYRA's commitment to supporting visionary artists who take risks and shape cultural progress.

Thank you to everyone who visited.

LYRA Art Foundation is proud to support Camille Henrot’s first work for the stage, Commedia dell’arte, as co-commissioner alongside Performa and Aspen Art Museum / Wheeler Opera House.

Camille Henrot works across drawing, painting, sculpture, installation, and film, pulling her material from poetry, cartoons, social media, secondhand markets, self-help, and the small absurdities of daily life. Working from these references, she makes work about a particular kind of contemporary experience: what it feels like to be at once a private self and a citizen of a hyper-connected and overstimulated world. Born in 1978 in Paris, France, Henrot lives and works in New York City.

Curated by RoseLee Goldberg and Eliza Ryan, Commedia dell’arte will premiere at the Wheeler Opera House in Aspen this July as part of the Aspen Art Museum’s 2026 AIR Festival.

Looking back at the evening LYRA co-hosted with Denniston Hill during the Venice Biennale opening week. We gathered to celebrate the residency and the artists it supports – and to mark what that support makes possible.

It was a privilege to be among curators, patrons, and collaborators who share a commitment to building the conditions in which artists can create ambitious work that shapes and drives the cultural landscape.
