Meet the Founder: Kay Kirkland & The Story of IIscents Oil Fragrance LLC 🌸 Growing up, my nose was super sensitive. I had constant nosebleeds and couldn’t wear most perfumes or body sprays like Victoria’s Secret or Bath & Body Works. In high school, I got creative: I’d play DIY perfumer with a spray bottle, mixing scents just to get a fragrance that worked for me. Believe it or not I used to take Downey place it in an empty bottle mix it with hot water and use that as a body spray. Until, one day i went on a date, I remember smelling them before they even walked up to the booth from behind me. Their fragrance stopped me in mid sentence on the phone. That moment stuck with me, and years later, I started experimenting with essential oils mixing different scents to create something truly unique. I began wearing my creations to work and started getting compliments. One coworker even asked if she could buy what I was wearing. I told her I didn’t sell them… But I made her a batch anyway, and soon, word spread. Her mother-in-law loved it, then her daughter, and just like that, I realized I had something special. I ordered empty bottles from Amazon, designed a logo on Canva, and bottled my first signature scent. I named it IIscents (pronounced “two scents”) because that’s exactly what it started with mixing two oil fragrances to create my own signature blend. And that’s how IIscents was born. From sensitivity to creativity, compliments to entrepreneurship. What started as a personal necessity became a passion turned business.
