Taboo | טאבוּ, January 2026

Part of Fourth-year mid-program exhibition

While we were asked to select a temporary space in which to present our work, I chose instead to construct my own.

This project remains ongoing.
Deliberately situated within an “operative” space; rendering it effectively untouchable, as it was approved in alignment with construction plans rather than through the Fine Arts department.

“The Fame”, 2025

Blackboard framed with fine pine, double-channel video loop, 60×240 cm.

"The Fame" explores the theatre of visibility and the mechanisms through which the artist becomes both author and commodity. Drawing from the lineage of Pop Art and the rhetoric surrounding contemporary celebrity culture, this work examines the tension between intellectual discourse and the economy of self-promotion. Referencing Leo Lowenthal’s mapping of cultural idols and its later revision by Duffy and Pooley, this piece considers the shift from object to subject, from production to performance.

Positioning the artist within the spectacle, “The Fame” reflects on how recognition operates as a form of currency. It exposes the seductive rituals of being seen: where critical distance collapses into desire, and the grammar of success mirrors that of pop culture itself. by @lyrihertz
