It’s been a little over a month since our 4th Annual Lyrik Place Fundraiser, and I just wanted to check in and remind everyone that although we may not have an event happening right now, Lyrik Place is still here and our mission continues.

Fundraisers and events are only one part of what we do.

Behind the scenes, we are continuing to plan, prepare, build programs, create opportunities, and work toward our mission of helping children Live Beyond Existing.

Our commitment to supporting children in Chicago and Ghana doesn’t stop when an event ends. 💜

And you don’t have to wait until our next fundraiser to support Lyrik Place.

Day 19 💜 The Day After

Yesterday was more than a fundraiser.

It was a reminder.

A reminder that people still believe in community.
A reminder that people still care about our children.
A reminder that when people come together with purpose, beautiful things can happen.

I woke up today feeling grateful.

Grateful for every person who purchased a ticket.

Grateful for every vendor who showed up and shared their business with us.

Grateful for every model who walked the runway and helped bring our fashion show to life.

Grateful for every volunteer who gave their time and energy.

Grateful for every person who donated, shared a post, prayed for us, encouraged me, or helped behind the scenes.

And especially grateful for the people who continue to support Lyrik Place year after year.

Thank you.

From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

There were moments leading up to this fundraiser when I was discouraged and unsure of how everything would come together.

But yesterday reminded me of something important:

Keep going.

The mission is bigger than one difficult moment.

The mission is bigger than one fundraiser.

And the mission continues.

Lyrik Place will continue working to help children in Chicago and Ghana receive the education, encouragement, resources, life skills, and opportunities they need to Live Beyond Existing.

To everyone who helped make yesterday possible:

We did this together. 💜

And although the fundraiser is over, the work is not.

This is only the beginning of our next chapter.

TODAY IS THE DAY!

After all the planning, praying, posting, calling, preparing, and believing…

The Lyrik Place 4th Annual Fundraiser is TODAY.

For the last 18 days, I’ve shared the heart behind this mission.

I’ve shared why our children matter.

I’ve shared why dignity matters.

I’ve shared why education, encouragement, life skills, and opportunity matter.

And today, we get to come together and celebrate the work.

TOMORROW IS THE DAY.

After weeks of planning, praying, promoting, preparing, and believing, the Lyrik Place 4th Annual Fundraiser is finally here.

Tomorrow, we come together for more than an event.

We come together for the children.

For the students who need encouragement.

For the young people who need opportunities.

For the girls who deserve dignity, education, resources, and support.

For every child we want to help Live Beyond Existing.

I’ve shared my heart with you for the past 17 days.

I’ve told you why I started Lyrik Place.

I’ve shared the struggles, the hope, the mission, and the dreams I have for the children we serve.

Now there is only one thing left to do:

2 DAYS TO GO.

We are almost there.

For the past 16 days, I’ve shared my heart, the mission of Lyrik Place, the children we serve, the challenges, the victories, and why this work means so much to me.

Today, I’m simply asking:

Will you show up?

Not just for me.

For the children.

For the young person who needs encouragement.

For the student who needs someone to believe in them.

For the girl who deserves dignity, resources, education, and opportunity.

For every child we are working to help Live Beyond Existing.

I’ve learned something through this journey:

A mission can start with one person…

but it takes a community to keep it going.

And right now, I still need my community.

“It’s just another event.”

“I’ll do it next time.”

It represents support.

It helps us continue creating programs that teach children life skills and social-emotional learning.

18 Days of Hope – Day 14 💜

Today, I just want to say THANK YOU.

Thank you to every person who has purchased a ticket.

Thank you to everyone who has donated.

Thank you to the vendors who said yes.

Thank you to the people who have shared my posts, sent encouraging messages, prayed for me, volunteered, attended our programs and fundraisers, or supported Lyrik Place in any way over the years.

You may not realize how much your support means.

Running a nonprofit comes with some amazing moments, but it also comes with days when you question yourself, days when you feel discouraged, and days when you wonder how you’re going to keep everything moving.

And then someone shows up.

Someone buys a ticket.

Someone sends a donation.

Someone says, “Keep going. I believe in what you’re doing.”

And sometimes that’s exactly what you need.

So today, before asking for anything else, I want the people who have supported Lyrik Place to know:

I see you. I appreciate you. And I could not continue this mission without you. 💜

But our story isn’t finished.

Y’all picked the WRONG weekend to come to Chicago! My nonprofit, Lyrik Place, is having our 4th Annual Fundraiser THIS SATURDAY, August 22, from 4–8PM, and y’all are causing me PROBLEMS! 😂

People who normally attend and volunteer at my fundraiser are telling me they can’t come because they have to “get ready” for Y’ALL events later that night! 😩😂 Like… can they support these girls FIRST and THEN go see y’all?!?!

And Chris, Usher & Jill… I wanted to come to yall concert MYSELF, but I had to choose between buying my ticket and putting that money toward my fundraiser. I chose my girls and Lyrik Place. ❤️

So since y’all are interfering with my fundraiser… 😂 how about y’all make it up to me and show Lyrik Place some love?! 👀❤️

18 Days of Hope – Day 13 💜

Today I took a moment to think about how far Lyrik Place has come.

What started as a vision in 2020 has grown into a mission serving children in Chicago and Ghana.

There have been beautiful moments.

There have been difficult moments.

There have been seasons when I wasn’t sure how everything would come together.

But somehow, we kept moving.

We’ve been able to encourage children through life-skills and social-emotional learning.

We’ve helped support students through scholarships and educational opportunities.

We’ve provided hygiene resources and education.

We’ve poured into young people and reminded them that their circumstances do not define their future.

And through it all, one message has remained the same:

Our children deserve the opportunity to LIVE BEYOND EXISTING.

When I look back, I’m grateful.

But I’m also thinking about what’s next.

There are still children to reach.

There are still programs to build.

There are still students who need someone to believe in them.

There is still work to do.

And that’s why this fundraiser matters.

People say, “It takes a village to raise a child.”

I believe it also takes a village to make sure a child has opportunities, encouragement, resources, and people who truly believe in them.

Lyrik Place may have started with a vision, but this mission was never meant to be carried by one person alone.

It takes teachers.

It takes parents.

It takes mentors.

It takes volunteers.

It takes donors.

It takes businesses.

It takes friends, family, and community members who are willing to say:

“These children matter to me too.”

That’s what community is.

It’s not waiting for somebody else to solve the problem.

It’s looking around and asking, “What can I do?”

Maybe your part is buying one $30 ticket.

Maybe it’s making a donation.

Maybe it’s sharing this post.

Maybe it’s bringing a friend.

Maybe it’s telling a business owner about Lyrik Place.

ONE WEEK TO GO!

Seven days from today, we will gather for the Lyrik Place 4th Annual Fundraiser.

And today I want to talk about dreams.

Every child has them.

The dream of graduating.
The dream of going to college.
The dream of having a successful career.
The dream of helping their family.
The dream of becoming something they may not have ever seen before.

But sometimes a child needs more than a dream.

They need someone to tell them, “I believe you can do it.”

They need exposure.
They need resources.
They need guidance.
They need encouragement.
And sometimes, they simply need an opportunity.

That is why Lyrik Place exists.

Whether we’re encouraging a student in Chicago through life-skills and social-emotional learning or helping a young person in Ghana with education and basic necessities, our message remains the same:

Your circumstances do not have to determine your future.

You are allowed to dream bigger.

And your support helps us continue reminding children of that.

For the children we serve.
