Crisis Management Session.

Our crisis management session began with a powerful icebreaker, followed by play and laughter therapy, which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. The Rose, Bud and Thorn activity helped us reflect, share and connect as we explored crisis management.

There were plenty of “aha!” moments, and we ended with a calming meditation that reminded us of the importance of breathing deeply, exhaling slowly and grounding ourselves in difficult moments.

Sometimes, healing begins with a conversation, a moment of laughter and simply taking a breath. by @m.p.network

STOP THE VIOLENCE.

Violence is not love.
Violence is not discipline.
Violence is not a private family matter.
Violence is not something we should learn to live with.

It leaves scars - some visible, many unseen.

We all have a role to play in creating safer homes, safer relationships and safer communities.

Speak up. Listen. Support survivors. Protect children. Challenge harmful behaviour. Break the cycle.

Together, we can build a community where safety is a right, not a privilege.

Stop the violence. Start the change. by @m.p.network

Cyberbullying is not harmless.

We extend our deepest condolences to Ashley’s family and loved ones during this heartbreaking time 🕊️🤍 May they find strength and comfort through this unimaginable loss.

This tragedy is a painful reminder that our actions online have real-life consequences. A private video is not yours to share, and what may seem like “just a joke” can cause lasting harm.

To anyone experiencing cyberbullying, harassment or the sharing of private content: please don’t suffer in silence. You are not alone, and you deserve support.

Today’s self-care session was all about reconnecting with our inner child through play therapy. The group enjoyed revisiting happy childhood memories while exploring the four dimensions of self-care: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual.

Participants reflected on their self-care wheels, identified their energy drainers and explored what truly fills their cup. We ended the session with a calming massage, leaving everyone relaxed, restored and reminded that self-care is not selfish - it is necessary. by @m.p.network

UWC & Older Persons Collaboration ❤️

What a beautiful day of connection, inclusion and joy! We were honoured to collaborate with students from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) for a memorable day filled with music, dancing, laughter and meaningful moments between generations.

Our older persons embraced the festivities wholeheartedly, with residents taking to the dance floor and creating special memories alongside the students. Most importantly, our Frail Care residents were fully included in the celebrations - reminding us that true inclusion means ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to participate, regardless of their level of care or mobility.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible Frail Care staff for your dedication, care and support in making it possible for our high-care residents to safely enjoy every moment.

Thank you to the UWC students, our staff and everyone who contributed to making this collaboration such a meaningful success. Together, we are bridging generations, creating belonging and celebrating the dignity and joy of our older persons. by @m.p.network

Culture & Diversity Session 🌍

Today’s session was an engaging and eye-opening celebration of the cultures and traditions that make us who we are. We shared and explored traditions across Xhosa, Zulu, Tswana, Muslim and Christian cultures - from the significance of traditional slaughtering and lobola to the meaning of the holy month of Ramadan.

The session reminded us that while our backgrounds and traditions may differ, we are connected through Ubuntu, love, respect and understanding. by @m.p.network

Today, the Mitchell’s Plain Network Opposing Abuse facilitated a meaningful holiday programme focused on connection, learning, reflection and personal development.

Our facilitators, Matthew Peter Ford (@matthew_peter_ford) and Aunt Julie, created a safe and engaging space where young people could participate, share, learn and simply be themselves. 🤍

We remain committed to investing in young people, strengthening families and building safer, stronger communities.

Your mental health matters.

We often remember to care for our bodies when they hurt, but sometimes forget that our minds need that same compassion. You don’t always have to be strong. You don’t have to carry everything alone, and asking for help is never a sign of weakness.

We believe that everyone deserves to feel heard, supported and safe. Whether you’re struggling, overwhelmed, grieving, or simply need someone to talk to, we are here to help.

You don’t have to face it alone. Reach out. Your feelings matter. You matter. ❤️

Annual General Meeting 2026

Today, we came together for our Annual General Meeting to reflect on the work, growth and impact of the Mitchell’s Plain Network Opposing Abuse over the past year.

Our AGM was a valuable opportunity to reflect on our journey, acknowledge the dedication of our board and members, and look ahead to what’s to come. As we move forward, we are excited about expanding our reach beyond Mitchell’s Plain and creating more spaces for support, connection and meaningful change within our communities.

A special thank you to our Chairperson, Board Members, volunteers, partners and everyone who continues to contribute to the work we do. Your commitment makes a difference.

This is only the beginning. Bigger things are coming. Watch this space ♥️
