Day 2 of the BEMER Convention in Chicago was nothing short of AMAZING! ✨

The energy in the room was incredible, and our speakers shared from the heart, leaving us inspired, motivated, and ready to take action. I walked away with so many practical tips that I can immediately apply to growing my business.

I was especially grateful to have two of my team members there with me to experience it all! ❤️ There’s something special about learning, growing, and dreaming together.

And then we ended the night with a Carnival-themed party! 🎭💃 We danced, laughed, and had an absolute blast!

So thankful for the opportunity to connect with so many servant-hearted leaders who inspire me to keep growing and becoming better. What an incredible day! 😃🧡〽️ by @m.pechacek

Saturday fun with the grandkids! First time at Dorothea Dix Park and Cottage Coffee. Heavy rain started before I had a chance to take a picture of the incredible view of downtown Raleigh from the coffee shop. Look forward to going back to these gems!!❤️❤️#mygigilife by @m.pechacek

Oslo, Day Two🇳🇴✨

We had the privilege of spending six hours on a private tour with Sheena, an incredible guide who made the day both fun and fascinating.

We started the morning with iced matcha drinks and set off to see so much of what Oslo has to offer.

We visited the beautiful Deichman Library that opened in 2020. Some of their other locations date back to the 1800’s.

We continued to the Oslo Opera House and saw She Lies, the striking floating sculpture in the Oslo Fjord. We also saw the Norwegian Viking ship Draken, used in The Odyssey film.

Our day included a quick stop outside the Munch Museum, Oslo Cathedral and a fun pop-up market where I found a beautiful sterling silver ring inspired by water lilies. Even better, I got to meet the artist who created it!

We saw the Norwegian Parliament, founded in 1814, stopped at Freia Chocolate, the famous Norwegian chocolate company founded in 1889, and visit Dale of Norway, known for its beautiful, high-quality knitwear featuring authentic Nordic patterns inspired by Norwegian culture and nature. I even purchased a stunning sweater that I absolutely love.

We walked by the historic Grand Hotel, where Nobel Peace Prize winners traditionally stay, and visited the Norwegian Royal Palace, built between 1825-1849 in the neoclassical style. The palace sits on a hill surrounded by the lovely 54 acre Queen’s Park, which is open to the public. We were also fortunate enough to see the changing of the guard.

Then we hopped on the tram to Vigeland Park, located within Frogner Park. The incredible sculpture park is the world’s largest sculpture installation made by a single artist. Created primarily between 1939 and 1949, it contains more than 200 expressive sculptures by Gustav Vigeland.

We visited Oslo City Hall and Akershus Fortress, the historic 700 year old stronghold built in 1299 by King Håkon V. We went to the Resistance Museum which offered a look into Norwegian’s history during WWII. We ended the day with dinner at Cafe Cathedral. John enjoyed the fish soup, while I had the grilled reindeer with a brown goat cheese & lingonberry sauce. Everything was delicious!

Another great day in Oslo!❤️🇳🇴 by @m.pechacek

🇳🇴 Our First Day in Oslo! 🇳🇴

We dropped our bags at the hotel and, since it was too early to check in, set out to explore a little. Of course, we had to stop for gelato—it brought back sweet memories of our time in Italy! 🍦🇮🇹

We also stopped at the Oslo Cathedral built between 1694-1697, considered the most important cathedral in Norway. It features a baroque style with massive ceiling murals by Hugo Lou’s Morh and stained glass by Emanuel Vigeland. It is the primary venue for national and royal events. I lit a candle in honor of my Dad❤️

After checking in and getting settled, we walked to the stunning Oslo Opera House. Its unique architecture is designed to look like an iceberg rising from the fjord, and the building opened in 2008. ❄️

Next was the Munch Museum, where we saw Edvard Munch’s famous The Scream. The museum, which opened in 2018, rotates three versions of this iconic work so each can be carefully preserved. We also discovered several other paintings we really enjoyed. 🎨

We ended the day with dinner at Osteria Della Nonna, the restaurant in our hotel, followed by an early bedtime. A wonderful first day in Norway—and we’re just getting started! 🇳🇴❤️ by @m.pechacek

Wonderful two days in the Dallas area visiting Lynne Wakeland and childhood BFF @netterleigh💕💕 by @m.pechacek

Friday night was one for the books! 🌿 We explored the woods, learned the art of foraging, collected ingredients for cocktails and dinner, met new friends, and enjoyed an amazing dinner at Tuxedo Falls. Good food, great company, and a deeper appreciation for God’s creation made for a perfect evening. Thank you, Chef Natty, for a memorable evening!

Last night we hiked down to the Deck on the Joe Creek Trail, waiting for dark and letting our eyes adjust to view the Blue Ghost fireflies. We enjoying watching regular fireflies while we waited.

Blue Ghost fireflies (Phausis reticulata) are a tiny specialist of the moist Appalachian cove forests. Most people in the world will never see these species in the wild. We were fortunate to visit one of the few places on earth where they thrive.

The males are about the size of a grain of rice. They drift slowly 1-3 feet above the forest floor with a soft, continuous glow. Their light is actually green, but in the darkness your eyes perceive it as pale blue or icy white (a natural phenomenon called the Purkinje effect). Watching them is often described as seeing tiny lanterns floating through the trees.

The females are wingless and almost invisible. They glow low in the leaf little from several small light organs. The females are glowing quietly down in the leaves, waiting and choosing.

Males spend one to two years as larvae hidden in the soil before emerging as adults for just a few short weeks. Their entire adult life is devoted to finding a mate.

We crossed a bridge to follow Camp Trail to see one of the popular locations. It was a magical experience watching this unique mating ritual. We never saw any other people, and we were surrounded by soft blue lights dancing, listening to the nearby water….amazing! Our attempt at picture and video did not give them justice.

They came early this year, so we were so grateful to still get to see them. Tonight we will go to a different spot on the property where they have also been seen. Grateful that Tuxedo Falls respects these beautiful species on their property. The property is only open to guests staying in one of their seven glamping cabins. A true gem in North Carolina! by @m.pechacek
