A love between two people. I hesitate to add much more to their story, because it is theirs. I feel deeply it is magnificent but not without its hardship. They are passionate yet. Loving yet.

One of my favorite pieces to date and was such a joy to work on and see these two come onto the canvas. 🥹

the way you forgive the subtlety of my insults

with eyes holding again

how your foot traces the contour of my calf

when I pull away, closer to the edge

and today, you met my tears

a kiss on the back of my head

the familiarity of you

baking bread in the room over

buckwheat and millet flour

and I can feel your movements

without sight

I made this to capture relationships and their complexity, the often excruciating and excellent process of being formed and forgiven by another person. The moments after pain where you reach back out and repair, rebuild, and tell the other person it will always be them. Us. We. by @m.roseart_

Sometimes, well after dusk, Cora will sit beneath the large oak amongst the perennials. The moon feels very much like a friend to her (usually she omits this information and keeps it to herself out of fear of being seen as odd). But the moon shines its light and there is an understanding. Under the darkness there is light although not always lightness of being. Near the flowers that pulse with life, she too is still alive. Cora can become quite disheartened by all we humans do to such a beautiful inheritance. All she has to offer back to earth, is itself. by @m.roseart_

'The Cool Side of the Pillow' Marve & Carl, 16"x20", oil and oil stick on canvas

Marve and Carl have had one another's back and love for over a decade. Their favorite pastimes are staying home with their animals (two cats), getting coffee down at the corner shop and grabbing a loaf of bread from the patisserie shop next door. They love watching parks and rec every year, religiously. Mostly, they love the reflection of themselves as seen through the others eyes. To have someone who says, to me, you are wonderful and always have been, is a rare and wonderful gift. by @m.roseart_

I don't usually make art based on headlines; this work began as something unrelated but her body seemed heavy as I went along, and then she never went beyond this weight and sense of tragedy. So here is the Jane, if we aren't her we know someone like her.

I see my body
separate from me
in disgust and shame
I wave goodbye
from up on high
I wave goodbye
For I no longer know
and I no longer see
When my mind swoops below
there is hardly anyone around
so I remain in the clouds

A few sketches, a few people.

You see what you wanna see
but we all just see 'me'
and to be me can be quite a lonely sea
I wonder what would happen if our stares landed a little longer
if our eyes were led with curiosity instead of animosity
our indifference will not take us very far
without an oar, we might need much more
my boat has some room, if you can bring a broom
for no one has sat here long before
we might need to clean, we might need to be seen
but someone told me once
good company can heal any sore by @m.roseart_
