And just like that, we completed our first FEI!!!

Juliet started the week with a great effort in the 1* YRC dressage, putting down a much improved test that scored a 33.2 in a competitive division. The next day on XC, she was super careful and smart with her feet to come off the course with no jumping faults and just some time! On the last day, she did what she does best and showed a beautiful SJ round ✈️

Young Rider Championships was looking like a lofty goal at the start of the season. Thanks for making my dreams come to life Juju 💜

@mdhorsetrials put on an amazing event, and we hope to be back next year!

This weekend wouldn’t have run so smoothly without the amazing @kms_eventing and @melanieloschiavo , and the support of the other @area1youngriders 💗 And last but not least @foxvalleysporthorses for coaching and getting us to this point!

2027 NEL Athlete Spotlight 🇺🇸

Meet Merritt Sheffield!

Merritt is from New Canaan, Connecticut & currently competes with her 8 year old mare Arden Juliet who she has had since she was 5.

They just finished their 2026 season in the 1* at Tryon, and they are ready to get back out on course in Aiken this winter.

She said “Our goal for the 2027 season is to hopefully move up to prelim and then two star. I’m so excited to be a part of NEL this year and I can’t wait to see how it grows! It seems like such a good opportunity to meet new people and connect across the country.”

Welcome to the League Merritt! 🏆

GMHA Festival 2026 🥈💫

A little less than 3 months ago, Juliet and I did the Modified at June GMHA, and to come back to this venue with such a different feel is so rewarding. Juju has become a bolder and more confident horse, putting down an impressive showing in the 1* this past weekend ending 2nd, just a few seconds slow of the win. I’m so so so proud of her and grateful for every time I get to compete with my best friend 💜

I am so incredibly proud of Arden Juliet finishing 3rd in a big Modified Rider division this weekend at @millbrookht !!!

We put down one of our best tests to score a 28.1, putting us in 4th place. Our past couple of events Juliet and I as a team struggled with our efficiency and pace on the xc course, but this weekend there was a huge improvement, coming through the flags with just ten seconds of time! And last but certainly not least, we had a blast jumping around the show jumping to place 3rd 💛

Millbrook as always put on a wonderful event, and we’re so grateful to have it so close!

A special thank you to @foxvalleysporthorses for all the help this weekend and over the past couple of months 💕

What a weekend! Juliet and I took on our second modified at @greenmtnhorseassoc and had a very successful run! It wouldn’t be GMHA without some rain, but Juliet was foot perfect through our rainy show jumping. It was a tough xc, but we came away with no jump penalties and expected time. Excited for the next one!

And a special thank you to everyone who supported the @area1youngriders in our fundraiser this weekend!

Juliet and I went up to @hpf_eventing for our first modified this weekend! It’s so amazing to be able to experience this first together 💜

We had a chilly and wild dressage this a.m., resulting in a less than ideal dressage score, but no biggie because we did what we came to do and jumped all the jumps! Just adding some time to our dressage score, and coming out excited for the rest of the season!

Last weekend Juliet and I did our first event back from Aiken at @plantationfield !!! We started off in first after dressage, but added a rail in SJ just bumping us down to second. We are slowly but surely getting back into the groove after a long winter.

Special thank you to @katechadderton for stepping in last minute to help us out this weekend! Couldn’t have done it without your support.

Next up HPNJ!
