What an incredible four days! 🎉🧬

Last month, our lab had the pleasure of joining the University of Lisbon's booth, where we shared a glimpse of our research with hundreds of festival-goers that pass through our booth, in a truly unique setting.

Visitors had the opportunity to discover how flow cytometry helps us identify different immune cell populations, and put their detective skills to the test in our science-themed Cluedo game. 🔬🕵️
Four unforgettable days filled with learning, laughter, meaningful conversations, and yes... a little bit of heat! ☀️😄

A huge thank you to the University of Lisbon and the Rock in Rio organization for this initiative, the invitation, and the opportunity to be part of this landmark edition. We are proud to have contributed to bringing science closer to society, one conversation at a time.

Until next time! 🥼🎸✨

Welcome to the Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology (M2B) group! We are a multidisciplinary research team dedicated to advancing personalized medicine in cancer and infectious diseases. Our work spans CAR‑T cell development, antibody discovery, and phage engineering, all aimed at developing innovative therapeutic strategies.

At M2B, we are designing novel CAR‑T cells targeting solid tumors — including breast, prostate, and liver cancer — and exploring their potential to eliminate HIV reservoirs. To evaluate CAR‑T function and targeting, we combine 2D and 3D experimental systems such as primary cell cultures, spheroids, and organ‑on‑chip models. We also work daily with spectral flow cytometry — our favorite technique to brighten up our days.

Through close collaborations with biotech startups and industry partners, we try bridge the gap between academia and industry, to bring immunotherapy one step closer to patients.

Follow along to explore our journey in shaping the future of immunotherapy and biotech!
