I recorded this set for the space at @foil.gallery — a listening session made to blend with the room rather than fill it. Soft edges, warm low end, and slow light: ambient textures drifting into balearic house and gentle techno. For the closing of the Fund Raver event for Venezuela at @_parquette , I wanted to bring the sounds of my home country to the dancefloor. This one hit close to home: the event raised funds to help the victims of the two massive earthquakes that devastated Venezuela on June 24th, 2026. (12 Djs participated and we raised almost 7000 Dollars)

June 24th is a deeply symbolic day in Venezuela. The fusion of African and Catholic traditions, rooted in colonial times, gave rise to the celebration of San Juan’s Day, when the syncretic music of Venezuelan drums — the “Tambores” — can be heard all along the coast. That same coast bore the worst of the earthquakes, where the loss of life is still incalculable. You’ll hear those drums wailing throughout this set, alongside the lament of the conch shells used in the celebrations. San Juan is a joyful occasion, but I wanted to give this set a more somber tone — a reflection, perhaps, of the sadness I feel for my country and my people.

I also wove in traditional “Tonadas”: rural work songs most famously born in the Llanos, the vast plains of Venezuela. Historically, cowboys (llaneros) and rural laborers created these unaccompanied, improvised ballads as functional tools — to soothe livestock during milking (tonadas de ordeño) and herding (tonadas de arreo). The lyrics often speak of heartache, heavy with melancholy and longing, but there’s a striking beauty in them too.

Incredible! The power of community really came through yesterday. Total gratitude to all The DJs, volunteers, the incredible team at @_parquette, and all the dancers for their generosity.

It’ll take a couple of days to complete the donation process but I’ll post it all here for full visibility and transparency.
