POV: you’re asked to “work” at London Fashion Week… only to find out you have to pay for the privilege 🫠

I was genuinely shocked to receive an email offering a “paid backstage experience programme” where “paid” actually means you pay them. Even more of sting is that this is an event on the offical @londonfashionweek schedule with a @britishfashioncouncil member.

When breaking into fashion already relies so heavily on who you know, where you live and what opportunities you can access, adding a price tag creates yet another barrier.

I’ve loved all my past experiences working at LFW and can definitely say doing so has opened doors that wouldn’t have previously been available to me, but this is such a disappointment to see and I just hope people don’t fall for this trap.

@laura_weir is there anything we can do to stop this?
