This Wednesday, “Battleship Potemkin Dance Edit (120 BPM)” from 2007 is playing as part of The 29th Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur in Winterthur Switzerland.

Very happy to be screening alongside great films, including classics by Oskar Fischinger and Norman McLaren🙏

For the video, I cut the original film into its separate shots and then sped up or slowed down each clip so it was exactly 1/2 a second in length. Played over a simple looping dance beat, the film is skewed into a more machinic A/V event. 👀👂

As part of our show @t_i_m_e_s_h_a_r_e , I’ve released technologyentertainmentdesign.com.

The site generates animated concrete poetry in the form of three word phrases. I think of these as “synergies,” associations in the vein of the three words that make up the acronym TED (of talks fame). For me, they’re intersections that might constitute values, lifestyles, subcultures or marketing pitches.

Technically it’s old style: simple random combinations from a fixed set of words.

I wanted to make a work that picked up unfinished threads from the mid 2000s, a golden age of website-as-artwork style net.art. I was thinking particularly about art by the legends @damonzucconi , @broskoski , @jmbjmbjmbjmbjmbjmb and @harmvandendorpel. I still believe.

Our show at Timeshare will now open this Saturday, January 18th.

We’re glad the show can be a reason to gather with friends. Other spaces nearby will be having openings, too. We truly wish we could be there.

Our hearts are aching as we watch the unfolding tragedy before us. The path ahead will be hard and long, but we can do it together. Staying connected is essential. Art and music connect.
