It’s not always PRs and celebrations.

Abu Dhabi was a hard one to swallow.

Going in, I felt ready even with recovery metrics flagging lower than I wanted. I thought I could push through on grit alone. I was wrong.

Through the sled pull, I was fighting way harder than I wanted to be, chasing times slower than Athens. Then somewhere after Station 3, something gave. Vision got hazy. Gels didn’t help. I had two options: withdraw, or accept the day for what it was and finish.

Withdrawing was never on the table. So I finished far from the time I wanted, but across the line.

Lesson logged. Recovery is non-negotiable. Grit doesn’t override biology.

Heads down. Focused on the next one.

Honored to have @garage.gear as the equipment partner for @combatgames_

What’s special about this event isn’t just how well it was run. It’s how it’s growing. Every edition is bigger, sharper, more serious than the one before. The level of athletes. The quality of the floor. The energy in the venue.

We’re building something together.

Special thanks to @cavio__ your work ethic, your energy, and your relentless push behind the scenes are what makes this event what it is. Grateful to work with you on this.

And a huge thank you to the entire combat team

every organizer, every staff member, every volunteer. Nothing on race day happens without the hundred small things you all handled before the floor opened. Respect.

Here’s to pushing the barriers again next year and every year after. 🙏

@buddziii @pasentmedhat i love you so much

Your first Hyrox isn’t what you think it is. ⚙️

It’s not about the time on the clock. It’s not about the ranking. It’s not about chasing a pace you haven’t earned yet.

Your first Hyrox is the day everything you trained for finally makes sense.

The moment you enter the tunnel, your heart rate jumps. You’ll look around and think: “Am I good enough? They all look faster, stronger, more ready than me.” I promise you every one of them is thinking the same thing about you. Don’t fall for the trap.

Then the first runs start. Adrenaline carries you. The crowd pulls you. It’ll feel easy it’ll feel like you have more than you planned. You don’t. The race is too long to be sprinting the first couple of runs.

Then the real race starts. Your legs get heavy. Your breath catches up. The doubt starts talking. This is where you trust the work. Every Zone 2 run. Every threshold session you suffered through. They’re all in your legs. They’re all in your lungs. Lean on them they’ve got you.

Fitness isn’t what wins races.

Fitness is 50–60% of the race. The rest is preparing your mind to suffer. To hold on when the legs want to stop. To sustain the effort when every signal in your body is asking you to slow down.

That part doesn’t happen on race day. That part happens in training.

I picture myself in the race. Every run. Every station. Every past disappointment — the ones that still live rent-free in my head. I run through them, in my head, while I’m training. Not to relive them. To rehearse the version where they don’t happen again.

Here’s the trick that works for me:

When I train, I’m already at the race. And every round has a mental cue.

Round 1 → visualizing the ski. Controlling the start. Don’t go out too fast.
Round 2 → visualizing the sled push. Enduring the pain. The station that tells you what kind of day it’s going to be.
Round 3 → visualizing the sled pull. Leaning on technique. Don’t muscle it.
Final round → visualizing the wall balls. Finishing on a high. The race ends here. Make it count.

Every session is a mental race rehearsal.

When race day comes, nothing feels new. The body shows up for what the mind has already rehearsed a hundred times.

Train the mind. The body will follow. 🙏

Food is fuel. Wrong fuel = no power to train.

My reality: train in the morning, coach, then at work until afternoon. Zero time to cook. Zero room for bad choices.

What I look for in a hard block:
→ No seed oils
→ No refined sugar
→ Macros I can actually track

@lycheeegypt ticks the boxes and makes my life easier through this block.

Clean fuel. Clear macros. 🙏

Some things only running teaches you. 🏃‍♂️

Being ready is a myth.

Nobody feels ready. The people who look ready started before they were.

Hyrox Cairo is in 6 weeks. If you’ve been thinking about it that’s your sign. Sign up. Show up. The rest falls into place.
