the famous mark coleman banana commercial thanks to @maaelstrom by @maaelstrom

Our recent Schick razor ad post with Mark Coleman and Wanderlei Silva was actually inspired by a post from @maaelstrom featuring the original commercial. We thought we had a physical poster from that campaign, but after digging through our collection, we realized we were confusing the Schick razor ad with Mark's famous banana ad.

That said, we do have two physical promotional items from the banana campaign! The first is the original ad print from the Pride 15 program. The second—and most unique—is printed directly on the back of an official Pride 15 fan envelope. Pride used to hand these out packed with promo flyers, and luckily for us, Mark’s banana ad made the cover.

Additionally, does anyone notice anything different about the Pride 15 image and the event poster we previously shared? by @maaelstrom

VTJ98 Suda Vs Hinkle
i enjoyed this was because it was beautiful textbook technique applying the toehold but then all your best laid plans going awry. Branden Lee Hinkle adapts to the situation perfectly with, "you want some heel? Here is my heel 👁👄👁🦶🦶🦶" by @maaelstrom

murahama vs bychkov ~ of my last reel @ Shooto R.E.A.D 9, 2000 with a flying knee

equally impressed with the hardness of sergeys head as well as how adorable takaharu's corner is

bychkov didn't have much luck the last time he was in Japan either with a lost to sakurai via armbar but I don't think he tapped?? Like was it exhaustion? It looked like he grabbed his opps leg for leverage to escape and the ref took it as a tap - its in VTJ98, which I'm watching rn just saw hinkle escape a beeeeautiful toehold set up and win and if I were suda fan I'd be so upset...

wait what was I talking about

uh im gonna watch the rest of pride soon i just get distracted (clearly) by @maaelstrom

Ronny Rivano single leg defence, holding the cage 1997. Been in my head since I watched it so I guess I must have liked it

If you're in australia and you have any of these dutch cage fight championship dvds I will show up in your window at night 🪟 plsplsplsplspls pls. Or 2hot2handle, I'm sick of typing "too hot to handle" into search and regular ass 🌽 be popping up by @maaelstrom

nhb specific articles.

favourite would be when I found the «КОМАНДА» newspaper about the 1996 combat in kiev ifc event

colour articles ~I'll save those for a separate post - I actually have a bunch of gorgeous colour photos from the brazillian events. what I am looking for is coverage of the 97 afc w/nutter

melanie what about a pride highlights reel, no, what if i trawl the internet ✨️ for crumbs about the no rules fighting scene in languages I cannot read from 30 yrs ago 👁👄👁 by @maaelstrom

this is a compilation of ~probably boring~ sweeps, sprawls, reversals, duck unders... sweet timing sequences I like enough that they come to mind even a year on, I genuinely looove them. The ability to execute a well timed ankle pick is very favourable in a man ✨️

it's been a year since I accidentally went crazy and started making fan reels.
I remember, because I made a very *beautiful* poster for Ukrainian independence day of this bare knuckle fighter and posted it to my story for my former school friends... and like 3 guys I trained with. now, if you look on ebay you can find it on some collectable Vovchanchin/boxing federation of Ukraine commemorative stamps. Игорь Вовчанчин vs Сергей Бондаренко/Igor Vovchanchyn vs Sergey Bondarenko, "Ultimate Fighting at the Disco 2000 Night Club", apparently there's a disc out there but its listed as 1997, but this took place on 1996-11-30

Did this last year but didnt upload and its one of my favourites, and I wish i could find better footage considering there's a reporter and a film crew there by @maaelstrom

Johnny Eduardo vs Takanori Gomi VTJ99

3 matches in, jp is kicking so much butt oh my lord, recommending shooto to me was a bad idea I will be getting nothing done ever again. This is the first Gomi match I've ever watched and I'm just.. spinning in my chair, I edited out so many beautiful transitions oh man just wowow

Like I'm barely up to 2002 yet and I still haven't scratched the surface of what was happening in the 90s at all, I recognise the names and then it still surprises me to actually see how good they were by @maaelstrom
