POSTS STORIES REELS

I figured it was time for an introduction post!

I’m Maaike, I’m 25 years old and I’m from the Netherlands. I’ve been obsessed with music for as long as I can remember, and over time it’s become such a big part of my life.

I started collecting records back in 2021. My music taste has definitely evolved since then, but I feel like every record I own has become a little part of me, and together they reflect who I am. I’m really proud of my (still growing) collection. There’s something special about putting on an album and taking a moment to really listen, it makes me slow down and connect to music in a different way.

Some records take me somewhere else entirely; a time I’ve never lived, yet feel I’ve always known, or a younger version of myself, lost in music and discovering who I was becoming.

I made this account to share the albums I love, the ones that mean something to me, and to connect with people who feel the same way about music. by @maaikesvinyl

Elliott Smith - Alternate Versions From Either/Or (2023)

Limited edition white 7”, US release (2023)

I’m not a huge 7” collector for some reasons, I’d just rather spend my money on big albums, but when it’s Elliott Smith, there is no doubt. I just had to have it. Especially because these are not on streaming platforms. I have heard these somewhere before but never with this sound quality. It feels so special! These versions are all superior to the ones on the regular album in my opinion. Sadly these tracks are not available for streaming so I can’t put them under this post, so what you’re hearing is the regular song. But just trust me when I say it’s totally worth buying if you’re a fan of Elliott Smith, so if you come across it… get it! by @maaikesvinyl

boygenius - the rest (2023)

EP, metallic gold vinyl (2023)

My favorite trio ever released this EP as a closing chapter for their album The Record. I remember the day of announcement so well, I just saw boygenius live two months before and I was OBSESSED! (Still am)

I’m trying out a new layout for my posts, I really prefer this over my previous one, looks soo much better!! Now I’m just annoyed with how messy my feed looks lol by @maaikesvinyl

Joan Baez - The Joan Baez Ballad Book (1972)

Standard black vinyl, 2LP (1972)

A compilation of the iconic Joan Baez’s best performances of the best ballads and folk songs of the time. Baez got me into folk. She’s incredible! And I feel so lucky to be alive at the same time as a legend like her. I know she officially stopped touring, but oh how I wish I could see her play and sing one day... by @maaikesvinyl

Beabadoobee - Patched Up (2018)

Orange retro coloured vinyl, 1EP (2018)

Doesn’t this record just scream ‘fall’? Such a cozy one 🧡 by @maaikesvinyl

Faye Webster - Underdressed at the Symphony (2024)

Limited edition Faye blue coloured vinyl, 1LP, US release (2024)

I stream all of Faye Websters albums a lot, I have been doing so for years. I even saw her live last year. But for some reason, this is, surprisingly, the only Faye Webster record in my collection so far. I really love her sound, I find her voice so comforting. Every other album of her is on my wishlist tbh 💙 by @maaikesvinyl

The Doors - The Doors (1967)

180g Mono, reissue, standard black vinyl, 1LP (2009)

I only ‘discovered’ The Doors last year (I know, what the fuck) (thank you to a certain person I met, I know you’re reading this) and I’ve been diving in their whole discography ever since, but their self titled debut studio album is just such a classic. I’ve streamed it so many times now but some music just really isn’t meant to be streamed. With music like this it feels wrong. So I’ve been on the hunt for a nice second hand copy for a long time because I often prefer those. But I couldn’t seem to find it, and so eventually I went with this 2009 reissued mono version. So glad to finally have this amazing album in my collection and to be able to spin it! But I still might replace it one day if I find a good regular copy, because I find the sound to be a little poor unfortunately… by @maaikesvinyl

Ethel Cain - Preacher’s Daughter (2022)

Reissue, standard black vinyl, 2LP (2022)

Believe it or not, this album - this artist even - was recommended to me by my 15 year old little sister a little while ago. (who also introduced me to Mitski, her favorite musician back then when she was ten. TEN.) Anyway. I don’t know how I could have lived so long without hearing Preacher’s Daughter. It’s so good, it transcends you to a whole other world. And the backstory behind it, the whole lore and the characters of her universe is all so interesting (again, thank you little sister for filling me in, and also, I’m worried) If you’ve never heard of Ethel Cain before: now is the time.

So all that being said, I dedicate this post and this record to my little sister who has always had a concerning taste in music @maud.debruiijn by @maaikesvinyl

Phoebe Bridgers - Lost Weekend (2026)

Limited edition Neptune Winds vinyl, 2LP, US release (2026)

There is something so special about being able to live through the joy of your favorite artist in the whole world releasing new music.
Especially when it’s been years and you’ve been looking forward to it for so long.
I never expected to resonate with the album so deeply. Some things are just meant to be.

What defines good music? Is it when a record is richly produced? Outstanding vocals? Beautiful instrumentals, unique chord progressions, cool riffs or fingerpicking? It can be all those things at once, of course, but I think the most important thing is the songwriting and the way it makes you feel.
The albums you think are the best, are the albums that make you feel the most.

Easily album of the year for me.

Side note: this post is loongggg overdue. I just couldn’t seem to get the photo right without reflections. But I REFUSE to use AI. So here is my bad attempt at trying to edit reflections away from the album cover lmao 😭 by @maaikesvinyl

Vince Guaraldi - It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown (Original Soundtrack Recording) (2022)

Limited edition pumpkin shaped orange vinyl, 1LP (2022)

So, fun fact, I work as a childcare teacher, and I play Peanuts soundtracks all the time for my toddlers during creative activities much rather than the overstimulating tiktok music kids listen to these days. And I’m not ashamed to admit I enjoy it as well! I play it when I have to focus or just to decompress. Second to that, I consider myself a huge autumn lover and I love everything autumn related, so ofcourse I had to get a freaking PUMPKIN SHAPED RECORD!!!! by @maaikesvinyl

Christian Lee Hutson - Beginners (2020)

Stnatdard black vinyl, 1LP (2020

As much as I love discovering new music, I can be a little wary; I just like to stick to my favorites. But when an album is produced by Phoebe Bridgers, the least I can do is just give it a chance, even after four years. Because all those years while being a huge Phoebe Bridgers fan, people have been telling me I have to listen to Christian Lee Hutson too, and I really wish I listened to those people. Because this album has been on repeat for weeks now and I had to purchase a physical copy IMMEDIATELY after hearing it for the first time. It just has such a familiar dreamy sound. His other albums are waiting on their turn but for now, Beginners is my current fixation. Has an Elliott Smith sound to it too in my opinion by @maaikesvinyl

Lizzy McAlpine - Angel (2026)

Limited edition maiden fair vinyl, 2LP (2026)

A NEW LIZZY ALBUM! I’m so excited to listen to this over and over and over and over and over and over again. I liked her music for quite a while now but ever since I saw her live two years ago I became a huge fan. The album contains a lot of older folk influences like Joni Mitchell and Nick Drake. During the first listen of the album I immediately got reminded of them. I love it. I can’t wait to see her live again next year <3 by @maaikesvinyl
