Three summers. Countless visits, clicks n posts. And the same wish every time—to witness a pitta mating moment with my own eyes.

For the past 3 years, I’ve watched others share their captures, quietly envious, hoping someday it would be my turn.

This summer, like always, the plan was to reach early. But fate had its own timing—I got to the habitat much later than usual, around 10:30 AM. Still, I thought, why not try my luck? Even being in that space brings joy.

And then… it happened.

A pitta landed near me. Another appeared a little away. Both visible. Both calling softly.
Then, the male started making a strange low sound—unlike the melodious pitta call I knew. I was puzzled.
Moments later, the female responded… and hopped right next to him.

What followed was something I’d only hoped for. A quiet, romantic exchange. And then—mating. Not once, but twice, right there before my eyes.

Turns out, that unfamiliar sound was the mating call—a softer, less-known tune of the pitta world.

That day, I may have been late… but the moment arrived right on time. Forever grateful to the pittas and the universe for that golden chance. 💚🪶

I am not the one who believes in the myths and omens around it, yet the timing felt magical. Maybe this sighting on the day of Diwali was nature’s way of whispering good times ahead. 🌕🪔🙏 - Barn Owl.

She isn't their mother.
She isn't even their species.

Yet day after day, the female Pied Hornbill arrived with food in her bill and vigilance in her eyes, nurturing Grey Hornbill chicks as if they were her own.

Nature still has stories/mysteries we struggle to explain.

Special thanks to @anuradha3899 mam for sighting this and letting the birding fraternity of delhi/ncr to know about this, because of her only we are able sight this amazing story of nature 🙏🎉🎊

Then came a sudden call — “Let’s reach Sariska by 3 PM.”
N i was birding in morning at Najafgarh Lake!!!

Honestly, I wasn’t keen. The plan felt too random, too rushed.
But friends kept insisting with persistent phone calls.

So we went.

The safari began with silence and uncertainty.
Our guide checked spot after spot, but there was no sign of the tiger.
Slowly, the familiar thought crept in — maybe this too would become another “no sighting” story as people often say for Sariska Tiger Reserve

And then, everything changed.

Hidden near a waterhole, resting beside her kill in the bushes, sat the tigress.
Powerful. Calm. Unreal.

After a while, she walked toward the pond to drink and cool herself, and for the first time in my life, I stood there watching a tiger in complete awe.

Some sightings are planned.
Some happen because of friends.

The leopard never rushed.
Not during the head-on walk toward us,
not during the effortless climb,
not even after settling on the tree and looking back at us before disappearing into the thicker canopy.

The rush existed only among humans — from spotting it to capturing the moment before it vanished.
Perhaps because haste is a human creation, born from impatience.

Nature, meanwhile, has always moved at its own pace.
