My connection with Maa Kali goes back to my childhood, to a place within me that words have never quite reached. It has always felt less like something I learnt and more like something my soul simply knew.

I painted this a long time ago, and today, I felt like sharing this little piece of myself. For me, Maa has never been confined to prayer or ritual. I feel her in my silences, in my strength, and in the inexplicable faith that carries me through life.

Perhaps some bonds are not meant to be explained, only felt.

I have always known her as my Maa, and myself as her daughter. ❤️🔱

When the Desert Listened follows the journey of Aditi, who is tired of her life and simply wants to escape her reality and disappear. She finds herself in a desert a place that is difficult, unfamiliar, and far from comfortable. Yet, in that very emptiness, she finds something she wasn’t expecting: a companion in the form of a cactus.

What I loved most about this book is how soft and gentle the writing feels. It slowly takes you on a journey of self-discovery, healing, and emotional growth. There is something very comforting about the way the story unfolds, even while it talks about difficult emotions and experiences.

The book beautifully reminds us that love isn’t always about comfort, and it doesn’t promise that there will never be pain. Sometimes, love changes us through the difficult moments, teaches us resilience, and helps us discover parts of ourselves we didn’t know existed.

This is a book about love, healing, resilience, emotional discovery, and finding yourself when you feel completely lost. The desert may seem like an unlikely place to find comfort, but sometimes, it is in the quietest and most unexpected places that we learn the most about ourselves.I genuinely enjoyed the softness of this book and the message it carries.

I genuinely loved this unusual idea because the cactus becomes much more than a part of the setting, it feels like a quiet reflection of Aditi herself.
